Re: The 2007 Dakar challenge Mercedes 230 G
Hello,
nice work ! I think you even did a more complicated rollcage than what it probably was in reality, but it's very clean and realist. Will definitely be a nice model ! Phil |

Re: The 2007 Dakar challenge Mercedes 230 G
I used 1.6 mm rod for the roll cage, the roll hoop that came with the kit was 1.5 mm.
I started on the decals last night. I had a bit of problems around the rear wheel, so I put some micro sol on and went to bed. This morning when I woke up the decal was almost perfect, I have to say I love Cartograf, they realy make some great dacals.

Re: The 2007 Dakar challenge Mercedes 230 G
Very very very nice work on this, I m loving the decals and the cage.
Also, a little detail, in the pictures you see the spare wheels, they are actually the yamaha's spare wheels, whereas you have taken the merc's for those? Just a little advice. Olivier |

Re: The 2007 Dakar challenge Mercedes 230 G
I really like this build.
I would like to know how you will do the sleeping bags and tent as well. Nice cage work. Love the spare rack and I agree on fuel cell placement. At least on desert racing cars that is a common mount spot. Doug R |

Re: The 2007 Dakar challenge Mercedes 230 G
A guy in my IPMS club did a presentation on making bedrolls for tank models using A&B 2-part putty, and they came out very well. He just rolled it out flat (With a rolling pin-type thing), cut it with a sculpting knife, and then folded it up. He also added craft paint to the mix so it has a good base color, but that step isn't really necessary I don't think (It makes it sticky as heck).

Great subject - nice to see something different.
