Dylan, what kind of camera is it. some times when you buy a new camera there are two or three settings for batteries. Etc, if your using lithium, the nickle metal hydride or whatever. If you don't put the setting right in the camera it will suck the battery dead in no time. Took less than 30 min for min when I first got it. Hope that helps.

And... I kinda figured that's what the macro thing was about 'cause I couldn't use the zoom function. But I still don't understand why the flash won't work without it on, which is when the batteries just die, (2 standard AAA). And why the hell would they call it "macro", in my world a macro is a prewritten stiring of commands to get to a specific screen location whn a program window is started.


Jeremy, I think it's a DXG 5.1 megapixel or something like that I figured out how to go through all the settings, but didn't see anything for batteriies. I did double check many times to make sure that my wife didn't put it on a outrageous image size.

Using car talk here, the problem started to occur after the memory card was installed. At first I figured it was cheap batteries, no biggie, so went and got good ol Duracells, checked em with the built in charge detecter, but, not trusting them like I don't trust dash gauges I verified the voltage with my DVOM so they are okay, and they were offically dead when removed.

Flash should still work on macro setting... something's "amiss".

That sucks. LMAO...Put some jumper cables on that bitch! Seriously though, sounds like there's a major short in there someplace, maybe the memory has something to do with it, but I don't see how. How long do new battereis last before they die??? I'd be back at the place I bought it from all fired up by now, telling them I want new batteries too. (I have very little patience for anything electronic.)

Wait a minute... did you say AAA's... not AA's?

That seems awfully light on a camera. Does it have the screen and all that BS? If so, you might want to turn off all the extraneous BS, ie something running is draining the system too hard. Of course, if the batt's are dieing like within 15 minutes, there really is something wrong with the little bastard... take it back... screaming and hollering. Maybe they'll give you some free shit for your troubles.

That my friend is a tempting idea. The short is probably more like something short with fat pudgy "little" hands got a hold a damn thing and screwed it up (as usual ). Anytime a camera is left laying around it usually is chucked full of pictures of the floor and the guilty suspects feet.

Batteries last 2 pictures at best, then buh-bye.

Hmmm... I have a few of those too... I satisifed the "Iwanafuckwithit" urges by giving them the old junky camera that didn't really take pictures, but the flash went off when you pushed the button. I also gave them my old cell phones and adding machines. They've got quite a collection going on, but always seem to want more.... I think they get that from my wife.

if it is, that might be the problem..some of them are actual hard drives and they suck the power straight outta that shit..specially if youre using only 2 AAA's. time to move on the the cannon REBEL. :o with external battery pack!

Jim, actually a nice deterent is to turn the old camaras into a tazzer with the flash button.

We're just going to take the thing back, refund it and and get a brand I've actually heard of.

Canon make a decent camera thats got like 10x opti zoom and comes with a little printer for less than 300. Not a bad deal.
