Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

I didnt say to drive an fd in the snow lol...I was saying they aren't the worst vehicle you can have in the rain...not my first choice though.

Either way though, no matter what you drive you will eventually crash it...whether it's your fault or someone else's.

jcsaleen, again I wasn't flaming you before I was just pointing out that maybe the circumstances of his crash were beyond his control like in your case.

Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

man i hate these threads. "yeah i crashed my moms car but now i want something with like 300hp" what should i get? NOTHING. if you cant drive a damn corolla you shouldnt even be driving. A G35 or RX7 is no car to mess around with.

No harm done, Don't worry all fun an games

Btw ~ At the time even though it was slick it wasn't still my fault I was a qualified driver at the time an even I'm man enough to admit that. Now with the right training an experience I'm alot more confiedent in my driving skills. If I was more skilled at the time I would have been able to control the situation far better.

Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

Even though the circumstances to put me into my crash last year were beyond my control, I think I could've lessened the damage or not damaged the car if I was a better driver.

I'm 19, and if I had enough money to shake at a G35, I'd be all over it. And if a girl is laughing at G-Ride (my little nickname for it), then she must be out of your financial wise. And if you're worried about people laughing at you, then you want a badass car for all the wrong reasons. A G35 is an AMAZING car for a 18 year old, I don't understand why you don't think its sporty enough. In my mind, that car is one of the best choices if you're looking for something really luxurious with a sporty edge. One of my dreams is to have a TT G35.

Save a Rx7's life so I can buy one

Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

agreed, if i total my 2nd gen, there damn well better still be some left! my input on this is the g35 is way too expensive, but if it wasnt, itd be a fine ride. i dont think it would be nearly as bad as a 3rd gen rx in the rain. the problem is when the turbos kick in. its an instant rush of tire spinning, which will make u wipe. my last 3rd gen was totalled on a test drive from my mechanic. he lost controll when the turbo kicked, and ended up on the other side of the street against a telephone pole. he's 40, and been a mechanic for years(rx7 specialist).....

Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

Please keep in mind that the tires play a major role in how a car handles in the snow or rain. My 88 NA FC with performance 14's would start to plow at 5 MPH in the snow, until you touched the gas (at which point the rear end would try to come around on you) and would break loose in the snow by flooring it at 35 mph in 5th gear (not recommended-- tail comes around FAST!)

My 86 NA FC with all season tires had as much traction as most other cars that were in the snow.

Also, FWD only helps you accelerate, not turn or break-- just like 4WD.

------

I still would not recommend an FD before you are, say, 30 (or any other high performance car.) Buy a crown vic or some other gunboat.

Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

I also I agree with that. FD's are shitty DD's I have a ford ranger as a DD an it works out good. A G35 isn't bad either though.

wow your FC must've been modded somehow to break the tires loose in snow IN 5th at 35mph IN snow.

That's some amazing shit.

Re: Thinking about buying a Mazda RX-7

Just a drilled out airbox and Pirelli P500's on 14 inch rims. The tires were just extremely slick in the white stuff.
