Re: 1993 ford stalling

Are there any other symptoms, or are you just basing this on the tachometer reading in the instrument cluster? Does it only do this under certain conditions such as approaching a stop or when cruising on the highway, going uphill, etc.?

when approaching a stop and when driving at normal speed the tac drops below one less than half, someone told me that it could be the trany losing power

Re: 1993 ford stalling

Welcome to the forum!

Since your Check Engine Light (CEL) has come on, there should be stored codes. On your pre-1996 Explorer, you can read the codes yourself with a paperclip. Check out the directions at http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troub...l_dtcs_18a.htm, way at the bottom are the instructions on how to short the test connector to enable the CEL to display the codes.
