hmmm, strange that my 11yr old Civic with high milage is in MUCH better condition then my Ex's 10yr old Celica.
The Civic has had a new clutch, diff seals, and Tyres. NO RUST.
The Celica leaks oil from every seal. Has clogged injectors. Has blown shocks. The Auto box is getting dodgy. It smokes at high rpm. There is rust showing in several places. The inlet to the TB is cracked and split. All the suspension bushings are shot.............I could keep going.....

And did you know the Cavilier and Civic are both made in the States?
or that Honda has been designing and assembling cars in the US for longer than Toyota?
And that the Cavilier is a rebadged GM platform, while cars like the 5g Civic Coupe are a US designed car?

And I know people will get a laugh out of this, the Matrix is an Aztec, with different body panels.
The two cars were designed togther by GM and Toyota.

You know, I was sitting back reading this thread, then read this post and said "Now here's a fellow who is well informed, got his facts straight, and tell's it like it is", NOT!

What you are saying is not a fact, but an opinion. So unless you have something to back up what you say, don't shoot down someone else's joy. Come to think of it, what do you drive?

Being that American made cars really sell well. How is it that a foreign made vehicle retains it's value better than an American made one?

hmm well if you were a mechanic like my father is ... i think i should know a little about the how long cars actually last and when they shouldn't even be on the road.... like most honda's fropm the eighties(don't get me wrong i don't mind some of the imports some are really great its when they are all rotted to,and im not really shittin' on honda's alone most imports after a long time)well here in canada the longest i ever saw a civic go without the motor goin in it was 200000km ,plus i've saw a few cavaliers go past 500000km then go downhill from there but still i keep with what i said

ask your dad what will last longer, a cavalier or a civic.... any mechanic knows that honda/toyota/nissan, have ALOT less problems than any american cars

200k? i've seen civics with almost 400k on sale! i don't know who the hell would buy a car with 400k but it'll still run

i'm mostly talkin about the engine

and anyways cavaliers are POS... i don't know why i'm even arguing this
it's clear that a honda engine is more reliable

Well just to carry on the debate my dad is a mechanic for what else, chevy, and just to let you know i asked him a little question about how long he has seen the typical Cavaler engine go for. He said that the best one he ever saw ( not spewing smoke and eating about 7 quarts of oil a day) went for abou 150,000 miles. Now talking about hondas, my brother has a 91 accord that has 250,000 miles and has shown no sign of letting up. Now i'm not saying chevy is bad but when it comes to reliability and longevity give me a toyota or a honda.

To be honest, I'm actually quite impressed with the way the toyota's have been coming off the line. I didn't like the Celica at first, but then after seeing it hooked up and what not, it's grown on me. Now this Matrix, while it may not be anyones flavor, I won't be surprised if it picked up. I remember when the first RSX pics came out, a lot of people were shooting it down. Now, it seems like no one can get enough of it in their hands. I'd give to have any car brand new right about now. Of course, something worth having.

toyota has been doing a good job of coming out with so many different types of cars to fit anyone's needs... they're like the GM of japan. they have compact, SUVs, trucks, luxury, etc... i wish honda made more type of rides... their line up is so small, and most of their sedans look the same... even with acura.
