Re: Anyone have info on this weird F1 car?
The Porsche is amazing! Also liking the Citroen DS & Renult 5 Turbo - very good bodywork shaping!
Seeing those really makes me want to get back to building my own ones again!!!!

Re: Anyone have info on this weird F1 car?
The Tyrell 012 chassis was first raced at th 1983 Austrian grand prix, by Michele Alboreto.
His team mate, Danny Sulivan, only got the 012 at the European grand prix at Brands Hatch later that year. ![]() I dont think that th 012 was raced with the 'boomerrang' wings. During that 1983 season, Michele Alboreto scored 10 points in all. Sulivan scored 2. Michele Alboreto scored 9 of his 10 points that season by winning the US GP at Detroit using the old 011.... ![]() ![]() Actully, all Tyrell's points that season were scored by the 011. The 012 chassis was quite succsessful during the 1984 season, with rookies Martin Brundle and Stefan Bellof. Brundle was 5th in his first gp, and was second in the Detroit gp of 84,(his 8th gp!) but then broke his ankles in the next race, the Dallas gp. Bellof, was 6th in his 3rd gp, 5th in his 4th, and third in the controvertial 1984 Monaco gp. ![]() However, all the resuts for the Tyrell team were declared void at the end of the season because the team found to be using illegal fuel. And so the 012 chassis soldered on in to the 1985 season, again in the hands of Bellof and Brundle. At the 1985 Portugusese gp Stefan Bellof finnaly scored the 012's first legal points in 6th after starting in 21st spot on the grid. And Bellof scored the chassis final points, in the us gp, for 4th place. Finally, the 012 was retired after the French gp of 1985, after compliting 23 races and just scoring 4 valid points. i hope that info was what you were lookimg for.

Re: Anyone have info on this weird F1 car?
Thanks speeddemon for the detailed write up. I've only just got interested in F1 (historic) again recently.
After Senna died and Prost retired, I've not followed F1 at all. What an era that was. |

Re: Anyone have info on this weird F1 car?
it was a great era. it was a huge pittty that gilles villineuve died, as villineuve vs senna on the track would have been awesome. just add a sprinkling of mansell, prost, rosberg, piquet, lauda and de angelis and we would have had something special. also, could you imagne waht senna vs schumacher would have been like?. The 80's were the golden era of formula 1.
