Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
No, he wasn't wearing a seat belt. The scene investigator said that his chances of survival were minimal even with the belt. It still hasnt sunk in yet. I'm half way expecting him to just sit up and say "screw you guys for peeing in my pool"

Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
I remember when a friend of mine died in high school. I kinda expected him to show up to class the next day and take his usual share of my leftover skittles from lunch.

Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!!!!! I mean no disrespect at all but since I was about 5 yrs old I've been taught to wear a seatbelt, no matter how much it hurt, or was annoying. It's absolutely key and I don't even think about it.

Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
we're getting stickers printed out with sam on them that say "buckle up for sam" we think, that maybe his death won't be in vain if he can help us save a life. We're going to pass them out at school

Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
i'm sorry, but i just find it hard to feel sorry for someone who didn't take that smallest of precautions; wearing a seatbelt. regardless of the experts saying there was little chance of survival if he was wearing the belt, that chance is always there. it's just stupid not to wear it. in my eyes it's close to signing your own death warrant. i've seen that to be true a number of times.

Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
agreed that it wasn't smart to drive unrestrained, but a death is a death, and always unfortunate, no matter the terms of it. Through Sam's example, hopefully more drivers will remember to bucke-up. (It's too bad the constant signs on the roads that say "Buckle-up, its the law" or "Seatelts save lives" doesn't do much, until someone they know suffers)

Re: R.I.P Sam Cox
Yeah I think that's a teriffic idea, also, I think street cars should be built with roll cages...depending on the application...okay maybe not but when you think about accidents on the road, don't deaths generally occur in older cars or that the age of them makes them more dangerous. I know you're gonna hate me for this but they should restrict older cars that are less safe from driving on highways. It's only a theory I just came up with right now.

How about better drivers education? Raising the legal age limit? In fact, the #1 vehicle for deaths from 2000-2003 was the 99/02 Chevy Blazer. Hardly a "older vehicle". |
