I don't know if I would go the DSM route, I have seen too many bombed out and depleted ones. They can be fast, thats a fact, but they really don't seem to hold up well.

While this is true, it's usually because lack of care as well. Anything can be unreliable if you just beat on it and not keep up on the maintanence.

if LT1 F-body's are in the price range i'd go that route.

I would go the LT1 route too, just watch out for high mileage at that price

LT1's are pretty damn cheap these days. A friend of mine just picked up a '93 Trans Am with only 64,000 miles on it for $5,500. A fairly decent deal I'd say.

if its a boosted dsm, then it should definalty be one thats boosted from the factory. boosted 420a dsm's break all the time, id know, we have one.
