Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

a brand new Geo Metro would run you like...8$....mabye 10$ if you get heating and A/C...lol

no but seriously, if you got 11K and you wanna have a little left over, look at Volkswagen golf, mabye a Ford Focus, or even a civic because they last a LONG LONG time, and the VTEC is a very strong engine...with ALOT of aftermarket parts for it...(also Mazda Miata, Protege, and Nissan Sentra)

im not sayin all these cars are even, better or worse than the cavalier, i dont no any of the stock specs and i have not compared any of these cars to the cavalier itself...the point im makin is that there are ALOT ALOT ALOT of cars you can look at

(none of which have an amazing forum such as this to back them tho)

Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

Trust me. I have looked at all those cars. I only like golfs that are 2000 and up, and they would cost me a pretty penny. If its not a gti, they have 127 horse. Cavy of course has more. Sentra's - only like the se-r's, and they are in the 13,000 dollar range. SVT focus - same thing, 13,000. I dont like hondas, i would never buy one thats why i have steered clear of any of them. When all is said and done, cavaliers still have more than any of those for the PRICE. I dunno......i think cavaliers just have a bad rap, and i dont think they are as bad as people think. I have a 1992 z24 with near 200,000 kms, and yes they were built differently then, but it has never given me any trouble, ONLY prob i had was i blew out my shocks. My sis has an 03 sunfire and it has had no problems. Overall i still dont know what to buy but an 02 z24 looks like a good deal..

...adding on to what he said, and you get these stupid kids in them b/c that's all they can afford, and they go 107 and wrap themselves around trees and stuff..... My friend told me that Cavaliers have the worst safety rating *he mentioned this when i was taking my rubber bumper guards off, lol* and I told him "yeah that's b/c everybody and the brother have one!" seriously next time you are driving, take count of how many you see. In an hour and a half drive I counted 11 cavaliers, and 3 Jeeps....3 Jeeps b/c that was the game we were playing, lol. but i started counting cavaliers b/c I couldn't find any Jeeps....

Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

I love my Z24, I don't care what anybody says about it, for the $4500, I payed for it, I'd say it's good for the buck, I'm pretty content with it. I've entered the world of the Cavalier/Jbody about a year and a half ago and now it's hard to see myself out of it lol Unless of course I win the lotto and I can get my Evo, then the Cavalier/Jbody world can go screw themselves lol

i dunno man, i was driving home from school on a local highway when a 2 door 97 flies accross 3 lanes into a ditch and rolls twice. me and everyone else on the highway pulls over and inside this car are 3 300+ lb black women. they were all fine with hardly a scratch on them. surprised the fuck outa me.....maybe not front or rear crash worthy, but they can sure take to a roll like a bitch. just thought i would share.

Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

well cavaliers are a good buy for a daily driver, but need a good ammt of work to make them have any power or compete with alot of other cars.

that being said, i drive from Pasadena to York and vise-versa every weekend and i've played this game a few times. the highest ive gotten (keep in mind on 83, 695, and 100 are the highways i travel) ive counted up to 31 cavaliers just in 1.5 hrs of driving...there are ALOT ALOT ALOT of j-bodys on the roads...its gonna get a bad rep no matter what

Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

i payed $4000 for my 98 z-24 with 90,000miles and love it because of the price, i mean all the other $4000 cars around here are like 92 buicks(lol) or a car that was all dented up or rusted or had 200,000 miles on it, but that is just where i live. and a z-24 was the only kind of cavy i was going to get cuz everyone and there brother has a regular cavy but you never see z-24's anymore

Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

^this is true and the only thing 2.2's are good for, (unless seriosuly modded) are shows. Granted z24's aren't sportscars but they've got some pep.

yeah, i drove my friends cavy after i got mine and hers was a 2.2 and i thought it was broke cuz it just does not have that extra bit of power that i like, i doubt i could drive that thing all the time without getting pissed

Re: Buying new Z24 - 02 2.2 ecotec or 2.4 twin cam??

Oh yah and thats exactly it, i mean for what you get for the price z24's are a great buy.......i mean find me a car with 140-150 horse that look good, fun to drive, and can get with low kms for a low price......Like yah im sure if i had 30,000 i would be looking at something else but i dont, and i dont think there is anything else with the same value as a Z....and if i buy a 2002 z24 as im looking to buy ill still have money in the bank for other shit i want....
