Goodjob Poly, I was bout ready to open a can on him for saying what he said bout the SRT-4, it does by far beat a WRX, and for little money, would put a STi out too, althought the SRT-4 should be a little bit lower I think.

I agree, it should be a little lower, but its not so oh well. Its good that mallet is gone. We all know that a srt beats a wrx, especially after the latest Car and Driver tested it and got a 5.6 second 0-60 where the wrx gets a 5.9, and a 14.1 1/4 mile where the wrx does around 14.5.

About the SRT-4 and the WRX:

Even though the SRT-4 has less horsepower (215-227) it is lighter, and the 227 horse WRX Doesn't have 227, Sport Compact Car dynoed one (stock) and it didnt even hit 200, besides that sure the AWD is nice but FWD can get you through snow , sleet, etc better than RWD. No to mention the SRT-4 is lighter than the WRX. But hey the new generation Impreza is coming out and the STi version has a claimed 300HP which can no doubt take down the SRT-4. Personally I would take an SRT-4 just to be different since alot of people have a WRX, but the WRX is nice too.

Wasn't someone saying that they dynoed a stock SRT-4 and got like 222 hp and 250 some lb-ft of torque?? They also have three upgrades for the Neon straight from PVO and the third one I believe puts the SRT-4's hp over 300, but I think they said it's not street legal.

Sport Compact Car got 223hp at the wheels. And yes, Dodge's third stage upgrade will make the srt4 not street legal because it requires removing the cat. It will bring the hp to the 300 range.

whoa there jdm...

the car makes 227 at the crank...

at the wheels a wrx makes about 160ish, b/c of drivetrain loss.

the srt4 is very underrated in it's hp...

you can't really pull that comparo...

you're going by Manufacturer claims vs. whp, with different drivetrains.

not equal things.

Flylwsi is right if both cars had equal HP numbers, the WRX would have less HP on a dyno run b/c the AWD has more mechanical losses. You can't really compare the two in that area.

That's right, there's a shit load of centrifugal and frictional losses in 4wd.
But i think the New Neon is a bitchin car, and not just the horsepower. The interior, the wheels, the seats, and the tires are all great items in a sub $20,000 car. If I down bout 4 beers I could mistake the New Neon for a Porsche Turbo, the front end looks simmilar, and that Porsche costs $100,000, so you get $100,000 styling for $20,000. I give it 3 thumbs up.:finger: Those Hoda lovers are just jealous because their sacred Hoda is begining to look weak.

keep in mind that the wrx is driving 4 wheels, the srt4 only driving 2...

so they're not exactly equal, even if one has "less" hp.

my point is that the srt4 dynos at the wheels what the wrx dynos at the crank...

meaning that the srt4 would have more hp at the crank than the wrx...

Here's a quick comparison for a WRX and an Evo. They both have a turbo and all-wheel drive, but an Evo would spank a WRX. Yet, I still want an SRT-4 :smoker2:

hmm...

b/c that wasn't what was done in this thread?

an evo is more than a wrx, which needs to be rightly compared to an STi.

which, in that case, a neon srt4 wouldn't do much in either case, though they all run quite close 1/4 times..

that's the end of the similarity and the comparison
