Nope, thats a 2004 Cossie Focus. I have a pic in my Road and Track issue this month for the hatch, and it's exactly the same front end.

Yes, give us Cosworth parts now! I have all the respect in the world for the boys at SVT but after having seen an RS200 up close and making laps, there is just no comparison.

And Cbass, that does look awfully Mondeo-ish. Just too long of a wheel base to be a Focus...

Saying the focus handles almost as good as a c5 is a pretty bold statement, a corvettes high speed handling is phenomenal.

Well, yeah, at high speed the C5 has the advantage of being RWD. At lower speeds though, they post the same slalom times, and on a tight race course, they are pretty matched as far as cornering speed goes. Of course, the C5 blows it's doors off at every straightaway.

The Focus doesn't quite brake as well, but the C5 has amazing brakes.

For a daily driver, they make great cars, as long as you don't care about going too fast. They have such good handling stock, I wonder what you could do with some stiffer springs and better sway bars...

That's a UK-spec Ford Mondeo with a 2000/2001 registration plate on it. The model is an early pic of the range-topping ST220.

While I don't care for the looks of the Focus too much I don't have a problem with them. What I have a problem with are people like the guy you talked to at checker that shouldn't be working at a auto parts store if he will believe that BS, the same can be said of anyone like him, regardless of the car.

I don't like the Focus body style much. The coupes are ok, but I just straight don't like the Hatch. Their handling is good, but I hate the acceleration. Around here theres some RICED OUT Foci. I actually like a few of the engines and parts I've seen people put in a few foci that I've seen but in my opinion, the cosmetic parts that people put on just look ugly. Aside from stuff like smoked lights. But Altezzas on a hatch Focus are straight raunchy. But that's only my opinion.

i hated them, to tell you the truth i despized them... however. we went to ford anyway... just to satisfy my curiosity. we drove the SVT... LOVED it... it was pretty quick, only keeping the competitors in mind, not comparing it to a dam CORVETTE... what's next, pinto Vs diablo? anyway then we got the quoter... 15,090, i want one.. end of story, and then hopefully some company will come out with a turbo that doean't void warranty, and i'll want one even more, remember this is a former hater saying this... My R&T issue said it was a Focus... maybe it was an error, I'll see if I can find the issue.

You'd be very surprised at how well a stock Focus hatch handles. They post a 64 mph slalom time, and stop from 60mph in less than 130 feet.

This compares to the Corvettes slower 63mph slalom. A high speed slalom is an excellent test of a cars transitioning characteristics, and the Focus shows very well. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have a RWD V8 Corvette over a FWD 4 cylinder Focus, but with economy cars, you should apreciate good atributes where you can find them.

On a side note, the C5 uses a front engine/rear transmission layout first seen in Ferraris of the 60s, and later in the Porsche 924!

Did anyone see the Road and Track on the Focus with the 5.0 in it? It was on the Speed Channel maybe a month ago. It was a trip! It shows this little red focus going around a corner sounding like a frikn' cobra! The only difference on the outside of the car was the dual exhaust. Look it up if you get a chance.
