You have not told us if thransmission fluid is at the proper level when transmission in is hot and in park.
Does the transmission fluid look burnt?
Have you done the hold in park and roll forward or backward in neutral or drive test?

If you have done all of that and it checks out your transmission is a dead duck.
If you want to check for yourself you can pull the pan and filter and look.
Look in the bottom of the pan for metal or clutch material.

If you send it out for repair.
I would look for a good repair shop.
As far as a transmission shop choice one with care.
Some are rebuild happie and watch chain store transmission shops.
Not that there may be good ones just check them out good.

Do your home work first.
Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

Re: 99 Transmission Bad?

Ok, the transmission fluid has a funny "burnt" smell is what my dad said, but the fluid level is fine. So checking the pan and cleaning it will probably not fix it am I correct. I'm sorry for all the questions but I am trying to not spend money I don't have.

From what you have described there is not much hope for it.
But as said filters can stop up and make them act like that.
But you never know for sure untill you have a look and check it.
So to be sure pull the pan and replace the filter and see what it does.
Pulling the pan and looking in there can tell you a lot about the transmission.
Also take note of what is in the bottom of the pan.
Good Luck and.
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for letting us know how it went.
The price is good but only if they do a good rebuilding job.
Do go for price but for quality and good work and people that stand behind there work.
Did they tell you what all they do on a rebuild and are they giving you a good warranty?
Have you checked the shop out and know if they do good work and stand behind there work?
Did the shop test it out good or find any metal in the oil pan?
Good Luck and let us know how it goes?

Re: 99 Transmission Bad?

We'll I got the full bill of $2006.79 for my rebuilt tranny. They named about 10 things that went bad in my tranny. I will list the stuff that was "bad" when I get the list when I'm able to pick my car up shortly.
