im goin to start going to the gym, i need to get in shape about now anyway.. and im very bored at this college so i have a lot of spare time, but i always finding myself eating the shit they make here... how can you eat healthy on campus?
I actually found it very easy to eat good here. Theres always a salad bar and cereal that I hit up. Ha ha, actually now that I think about it I have had a salad and a bowl of frosted mini wheats for lunch and supper everday for like a week.

Heres my tips for losing weight.
1) Stop drinkin pop. I immediately lost 15 lbs after I quit drinking like 6 cans a day.
2) Exercise. Biking (stationary or road), rollerblading, walking, running, it all burns fat. I prefer running as it burns fat the fastest, but is not always the best choice if you have bad knees, hips, etc. Low imact activities such as biking and/or elliptical machine are good if you have bad joints. Start off light and work it up gradually. Remember, the more you excercise, the more fat you will burn. Just be sure that if you get hurt, rest up and dont overexert yourself.
3) Eat right. Dont buy into this "carbs are the enemy" bull shit. If you are going to exercise you need carbs. For the transition, I would stop eating unhealthy stuff but still eat when you are hungry for like the first week. You may or may not lose weight just because of this, but it will get you used to eating the right food. Be sure to get lots of fiber and avoid carbs from sugar. Also, eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed. Gradually cut calories until you are getting like 500-1000 caloies less than you are supposed to. www.marathonguide.com has some good calculators under the "Training" tab that can tell you how many calories you are supposed to have. I would minimize meat but be sure to get protein, dont eat junk food, and eat lots of whole grain "bread group" stuff, vegetables, and try to get atleast a few servings of fruit a day. If you need to snack, do it with like 100 calories and dont do it more than twice a day. Be smart about it though, a 100 calories can take you a long way if you are good about it. For example, there are 100 calorie packs of popcorn that do an excellent job of tiding me over. Also, snacks like Wheat Thins and others have started coming out with 100 calorie packs, those work well too but wont fill you up as good as that popcorn.
4) Dont eat within like 4 hours of going to bed. If you do, your body will just take that food and make it into fat since you dont use many calories during sleep.
5) Sleep. Thats when your body recovers, adding exercise is going to need to take advantage of that.
6) Stick with it! It will be hard the first week or two, but it gets easier to keep with it and eventually you feel bad when you go off your diet.

That should set you up for a good, safe, and steady weight loss of like 2 lbs a week. Obviously, if you cut a few more calories and excercise a little longer you will lose more weight faster.

I am going to write a book on weight loss from my own experience some time, basically a longer version of what I just wrote. Take my idea, I take your left nut .

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

I'm 6'6, 260lbs, and kinda overweight. I remember a few years ago when I was still 6'6 but only about 230. Those were the days... Being in a relationship and going out to eat every single weekend sure gets to you. Luckily I dumped the bitch and I'm back on the road to greatness
I now go to the YMCA at least once a day to ride the stationary bike for at least 30 minutes, burning an average of 550 calories per hour. If possible, I go twice a day; the second time to play raquetball with my step-dad and I lift weights. I'm trying to burn the fat and I'm not really interested in getting ripped just yet but I still do weight training because muscle helps to burn fat so I do it. I drink one Atkins Shake every morning (like a Slim Fast), I eat a can of tuna in the middle of the day, then I eat a moderate dinner. At this rate, I know I can lose 40 pounds before Christmas, and 6'6 220lbs is good weight for me since I am already pretty muscular, just covered in FAT. and unfotunately, I'll have the stretch marks there until they fade...which suck major ass. It's gross to look at.

Hell yeah, good job man. I know what you mean about the stretch marks, they are a big part of what made me start changing. I think you need a sig like me and AbsoluteGTR.

Yeah I'll have to work on that sig...I kinda fucked it up when I tried haha. Maybe tomorrow I'll make it. I will be joining the colored scale sig club though.

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

I'm about 6'4" and weigh in the neighborhood of 280. I'd like to get down to around 230-250 but to be honest I dont care if I lose weight or not but I want to cut the fat but not gain any muscle because I'm already pretty strong. I bench around 250 shoulder press reps of 200 curl reps of 140 squat 300+(been a while) and not to brag but I'm rocking 19" biceps lol so I dont need any more muscle just toning would rock. I tried to start running a mile a day but once school started my schedual has been kind of hecktak. That and I dont have much motivation I guess lol. So Dustin, since I'm not as creativly inclined as you would you be able to make a scale for my sig? and if anyone wants to help me with motavition that would rock lol

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

I'm 6'2" and currently weigh 180lbs. Just last year this time, I was up at about 205lbs. Word up to weight training and just one measly mile jog per day. That weight was dropped in the matter of a month.

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

Hows everyone doing? Thor is past the halfway mark, 22 lbs out of my 40 lb goal. I just weighed in on Wednesday, 198. It feels good guys, I am starting to see the top two of my six pack and I am trading in the double chin for an adams apple. I still have a ways to go, but its good to see all my hard work pay off. I think I am going to weigh in every Wednesday after ultimate. At this rate, I should be able to get it all off by Christmas *crosses fingers*. How about everyone else, hows it going?

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

I must have missed this thead a little while back, I'm 6'2" about 350 and I'm about to start some major weight reduction. I'm tired of being called big guy, boss, budd, and all those other bs names for a larger than normal guy. The looks, the shitty name callin, I'm tired of it and now I have realized that I'm not just a growing boy any more, I need to do something about it while I still can. I would love to drop down to 260ish. I have a shit load of muscle mass with some flubber hangin a bit, so that needs to change. And as for the stretch marks they need to go. The worst thing is when you go into a store that sells clothing and you love like everything they have but guess what, they don't carry anything in your size like JcPenneys and Walmart. I have to order Old Navy online cause they don't carry my size in the store which I think is bull shit.

So I think that makes me the biggest guy on here whoop but not for long. I'm going to buy a scale that reads higher weights and I'm going to start weighting myself every Wednesday like Thor's doing. And I'm going to start putting in my Sig my present weight and my goal.

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

Sweetness good luck man. My advise: keep your eyes set on the goal dude. Its going to be tough, but keep a picture of yourself as a reminder, worked wonders for me. I would imagine there would be some motivation in those pictures of your daughter too, things like that will help.

I think its bad ass everyone is doing this. We should have a weekly report, every Wednesday people should post up how its going.

I just got an idea, I'll post up when I get it done...

Re: Operation Weight Reduction

I need to find one first. Living with all older people in this dorm sucks, everyone has their own cliques already and no one ever invites me to do anything. Soon enough though.
