Re: 350z or rx-8
also you have to remember that the maximas are front wheel and the drive train loss is greater on rear wheel drive.

Re: 350z or rx-8
Um replace the engine when the seal blows. Rotary engines are great for racing but for reliablity they aren't so good. Also they are very small displacement engines but look at their mpg

they barely trap over 90mph in the 1/4. they're 14.1 time that you see is from them having to take off at 6000+ rpm. after that holeshot, they run out of steam in 3rd. a 350Z can easily reel it in on the top end. also the WRX is softly sprung and has small and skinny all season tires, small brakes and crappy aerodynamics, weak glass trannys that breaks very often, and a very very laggy turbo that doesn't make any real power. the WRX was the shit like 5 years ago when it first came out, but by todays standards, it can barely keep up. the EJ25 powered WRX is a different beast though, but even with the new engine it still only puts down 210whp stock.

Also the seals wouldnt blow if the owners would check/change the oil on time. And yes I have been to the track and autocross events, not with my RX-8 cause I'm still breaking it in, but I went with my jetta, and my friend went with his 350. My step father had a FC and it lasted for 200,000+ miles for 12 years. He never had a problem with it, he had to get rid of it because he needed a sedan. That FC lasted longer than my diamante and my celica (which is supposed to have very good reliability but died after 152k miles.)

Re: 350z or rx-8
As for tradk times I think alot of people would benefit from going to a drag strip and trying it out. Racing a car on the road that is rated for 14.0 and beating it dosn't mean you are a good driver and capable of breaking 13's. I took my stang to the track a month or so ago and I couldn't break into the 14's, even though stock it is supposed to be able to run a 14.1. My second run I did a 15.8, thats terrible and I have beaten rx8's and wrx's on the street. I love the 350z though its my personal favorite out of the two.

Re: 350z or rx-8
yea i saw and 04 350 track edition blue for 24k with like 15k on it. then next to it was a 05 rx-8 grand touring with like 4k on it for 23k but if i got the rx-8 it would either have to be 06 or newer or the person/dealer would have to prove to me that it went through all the recall tests that mazda is doing.
also ford does like to lie about there numbers btw |
