I think even a fully loaded Package 2 w/DSG and Nav and w/the optional Votex body kit and Khartoums...you still are under 34k.

Re: New Cars Civic EX or VW GTI

I think the GTI is a better car. The Civic is pretty boring. And if its the Si vs. the GTI, Id take the GTI.

Re: New Cars Civic EX or VW GTI

Well I went the sensible way, not trying to go the performance route this time. I ordered a 07 Civic the other day. It is getting built on the 25th I believe and will be here by the end of this month or the first week of next. They move quickly.

Well you have a gas guzzler (the stang) and a gas saver (the civic) together they equal a normal V6 car. Congrats on the new buy, though I wouldve still gone with a GTI or 1.8t

Man, lucky you, if we wanted either in NZ we'd be waiting 8 months for it minimum.

Both the Golf GTI and Civic have queues that stretch out the door because of thier popularity and the lack of supply from Japan and South Africa respectively.

MkV GTI's are built in Wolfsburg or South Africa. Not Japan or Mexico.

You can verify this via the VIN. Mine was made in Wolfsburg.

Re: New Cars Civic EX or VW GTI

Yeah, the UK/Europe hatches are.

We don't get them in NZ though, we only get a Japanese made sedan and Hybrid. Apparently the Euro model was too expensive to import built up and they'd have had to have priced it in 307/Golf territory.

Which is stupid because the Golf is damn near outselling the much cheaper Civic sedan at the moment (Though there is the supply issue) and the 307 is still hugely popular after 5 years or something crazy like that.
