He's cheated death numerous times before. One news report said he was filming a new documentary at the time he was killed. The sad part is he leaves behind 2 young kids, one of them a baby. He won't get the chance to see them grow up. My favorite scene of him was the one where he was mowing the lawn near a body of water with a lawnmower, and a crocodile suddenly came out of the water and attacked the lawnmower, dragging it back into the water, much to Steve's surprise.

It was really sad to hear this, I mean a guy who has risked his life with some of the worlds most dangerouse animals only to be the 4th man killed buy a stingray in Austrailian Histroy...................

Like others have said and I myself have dozens of times...it was bound to happen sooner or later the way that guy thought he would go play with everything. Once I heard the news I already had it played out in my head how it all went down.
"Crikey!!! Look at the size of that stingray...aint she a beut....I think IM gonna jump in and pet it....CRIKEY!!! It stabbed me in the chest"

They say the video shows everything. Apparently he didn't antagonise the ray at all. They figure because he was above it and the cameraman was in front of it, it felt threatened and boxed in, so it automatically flicked up its tail as a reflex. Pierced his heart, he pulled out the barb then died.
