Yeah, they've definitely upped the ante. In other news, the new "supra" will be sold under the Lexus nameplate and will be called something else (LF-A? what a retarded name. what happened to all the cool names? they can design a bad-ass car, but don't have the creative decency to name it something equally intimidating...LF-A sounds like somthing Cartman would come up with) ofcourse, but that thing has a massive price-tag on it too...

So, we got the Supra, Challenger, and Camaro coming back, the Skyline in the mix, even the return of the RX-7 (not to be confused with the current RX-8). If only Mitsu decided to go nuts and bring back a retardedly over-powered TT VR-4, in all it's non-profitability glory, than we'd be talking [oh boy, am I gonna get it for that one].

Re: G 35 Skyline

Some. IIRC, they were all I6's but some as low as 2.0L, and some were RWD others were AWD. Also, some were 4dr, some 2dr.

Re: G 35 Skyline

My uncle did that to his car. He just swapped the lettering and put "SKYLINE" on the back instead. Also, some G35s are AWD. (Called the G35x)

your correct but the 2.0L was an I6 lol it was the rb20det then they got the rb26dett and I think mots were availble in a sedan. I'm only refering to 87 to present before 87 none were turbo'd and all rwd

Re: G 35 Skyline

actually your pretty wrong about the new skyline. it is not based off the g35 and will not look anything like it at all. it is going to use a 3.5l twin turbo system putting out around 450hp. it will be all wheel drive and in the price range of 70-80k they have shots of it on nissans website and they have a couple already done and have been tested

Re: G 35 Skyline

alright DSM freaks, let a nissan guy break it down.
The new Skyline is on a completely new platform not shared with any other models currently, the 2 possible engines they are experimenting with are a bored and twin turbocharged VQ38DETT(VQ35 variant) or possibly a V8 in the 4L+ range, although it will most likely be the 6 cylinder. They are shooting for compitition in the 911 turbo range with a price tag no lower than 70K. and as of right now they are shooting for a late 07 release as an 08. Oh, and it is awd, supposedly an updated HICAS system tuned and tested by Lotus' engineers.

Re: G 35 Skyline

Reguarding the V8 thing, I watched on some TV show or read in a magazine that the new versions of past import supercars could possibly going to V8's. Like he said, the skyline is one and the other that stands out in my mind is the Supra. With the new versions of old muscle cars, imports getting V8's, and domestic "tuner" cars (ie the SS S/C Cobalt and the SRT4) the dividing lines between import and domestic are fading and I think will eventually be gone.

Re: G 35 Skyline

Boo HICAS.

Anyway.. many people don't accept the G35 to be a real Skyline, although the chassis does hold the nameplate, it does not hold the prestigious GT R emblem.

I'm personally afraid of what might come out of Japan in the next few years. Although they will be very fast -- no doubt -- what ever happened to the good old days about driving skill and tuning your car to retarded amounts of power and kicking your fender in when you get pissed off at your car for not wanting to cooperate lol. Oh well, I just hope the drivers aren't going to be assholes on the road
