Re: Fuse blowing

Paul: With the "Merlin" and the "Blue Bowtie" coming online you're getting the best advise this forum has to offer!!.(although "old dave" and I have been around the block a time or two ourselves). Below is a link for good prices on OEM stuff. Send them your VIN for the correct pump part#. Hope to hear your Suburban is back up and on the road soon..........Steve

Re: Fuse blowing

Just an update really. I finally had time to drop the tank and sure enough two of the wires were burnt and melted together. The pump looks ok and the wires at that end were fine it is two of the wires as they exit the tank that have gone. I did think of just replacing the two wires and refitting but have decided that a new pump with wires will be ordered tomorrow when I get the time. It should only take a week to get as I have found someone who will ship to the United Kingdom so no issues there (I have noticed a lot of people on ebay for instance that state shipping to the United Kingdom not specified, not sure why) anyway I really wish to thank everyone for their input especially Steve and Dave.
Regards, Paul.

Re: Fuse blowing

Well pump arrived but surprise surprise there wasn't any of the wiring harness that had been promised with it, anyway undeterred I replaced the wires that had burnt out with new more heavy duty ones and soldered new ends on, popped it all back and all appears to be working fine.
I haven't taken it out too far just a few miles as I don't want to breakdown and have to wait for hours to get towed back so hopefully a few more trips and I will have the confidence back with the truck again.
One thing I did notice is that this pump is quieter than the last one even before the last one gave in it was fairly noisey.
One last question for you all. I run LPG most of the time so the fuel pump is running but not supplying fuel just keeping things pressurised, is this ok for the pump or do you think prolonged running would harm it. (if so I need to get the pump wired in to the LPG system to switch it off when the LPG is used and only come on when I go to gas).
Once more I am really very grateful for all your help amd very pleased to have my truck back on the road. Regards, Paul.
