Re: What to do?

ya i etched primered it and i sealed it with sealer primer also. And rally i used a power sander, did you do your by hand? if so that sucks.i had to use some bumper paint striper crap to get some of the paint off the front because the spyderwebbing was so bad. i think on the rest of the car i will go a little past the clear and put sandable primer on it and seal it also.

Primer still breathes and does not have a hardening agent in it thus moisture will get to any areas of bare metal the primer comvers, or rejuevinate any rust spots no matter how thoroughly cleaned out.

Also, we're coming up on weather in late fall and occasionally in the winter where some very very humid conditions can develope, ie severe fog, melting ground cover snow that evporates into humid air and soaks everything in sight even though not a drop of percipitation may fall, the air would be completely saturated and go right through the primer as if someone were constanly spraying the surface with a hose.

Automatics have a flexplate, not a flywheel. If the flexplate is broken, you will have a horrible clunking sound. You will also paste the following components:

1) Transmission front pump bushing
2) Transmission front pump seal
3) Transmission front pump
4) Torque converter
5) Flexplate (duh)
6) Flexplate-to-crankshaft mounting bolts
7) Engine rear main seal
8) Engine rear main bearing (you know, oil pump is bolted to this housing)
9) Engine crankshaft

So you see, a $30 broken flexplate can cause a LOT of headache and it will also cause you to eat macaroni and cheese for two months to cover the cost of the above components, and that's if you have a job! Park it, then fix it!

Re: What to do?

Yeah, I hear what you're saying, Wright. I see it happening all the time on my Camaro as the primer gets dark in some areas.. so even though it doesnt get 'dirty' like say my Monte I still got to wash it.
