Re: Boss Called my car a POS
I back up what Davenport says. Age doesn't matter at all. If the Mustang has been taken care off (which it should because they'll worth a decent amount) it'll run OK. If it has some simple mods, it'll really run. Heck, my 70 Trans Am I use to have would easily run down into the 12's. It just had headers and an intake that wasn't stock and no, it wasn't gutted. It even had AC!

Gotta pull this out for that one. Unless you had some weight reduction, decent tires, some higher compression, and atleast a mildly built/cammed head you would not hit 12's. I've been around old V8's long enough to know it takes much more work than that to get 12's.And watch your fucking language.

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
remember that after you smoke him, be a cool sport about it. if your boss is as much of a dick as you say, it'll probably be kinda rough working there after he knows his pride and joy lost to a "piece of shit". so dont throw it in his face or anything just be like "real nice race" or something humble. then come on the forums and be a post-whore about it.
good luck man, cant wait to see this. |

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
Stock 70 Mach 1's are closer to 3500lbs. Some came with 428 CobraJet engines - [email protected]. They were severely affected by the stock emissions equipment so all he would need is headers and exhaust and he'll be dipping into the 13's. 335Bhp and 440lbs/ft.
They were also available with 351 Windsor and 351 Cleveland engines. The Cleveland is beefier than the Windsor. The 2valve Cleveland put out 250bhp and 355lbs/ft and the 4 valve Cleveland put out 300bhp and 380lbs/ft. I used to have 73 Mach 1 w/ 351C 2 valve and that thing hauled ass. Never took it to the track but I'd guess with my bolt-on mods it was low 14's or high 13's. The problem was the back end was so light and there was so much torque all I could do was spin my tires. |

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
Id tick up the boost a little bit, its a damn good time, but he may be able to run faster. You can always pour a wee bit of oil on his tires before he races.

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
Now that I think about it, you REALLY should tick up the boost. Hes probably tuning or modding his car as well. A set of tubular headers and some slicks will bump that car up in speed alot easyer and faster than your tuning.
Anyways, winnings not just winning. Make a stand, buiry him!

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
You'll kick his ass no doubt, I wouldn't be balsy enough to go for slips but if you do your research and you know you can beat him, go for it.

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
i agree with davenport. with all the mods you have why dont you run 17-18 psi, hell make it 20, just for the race? if you dont know how to do it yourself look in every nook and cranny of the city you live in and surrounding areas and find some small-time dsm expert who wants to make $40 and have him street tune your car for the extra boost, then bring the settings back to normal after the race. I dont think it would hurt anything if you raise the boost for 1 or 2 passes.
(ps, i dont mean to insult anyone by telling you to find a dsm expert. i dont know anything about you or how much you know about cars, i dont know much about anyone on this forum, but i was just trying to give a helpful suggestion )

Re: Boss Called my car a POS
I obviously know how to up my boost. Today I put it too 22 PSI just see if I could feel a difference. I could
So its staying there till race day. But I think Im just going to leave my tuning the way it is. Ain't no DSM specialty shops round here lol. (and yea no offence taken)
