Re: Tamiya Xanavi GT-R R34

Thanks everyone.

Thought I'd finish this off once and for all. It's been a real pain recently coz I fudged up the steps to apply clear coat and forgot about the massive front window I had on it...result, a "rained on" look to the window (see photos). I think if I bother to make a diorama for this, I'll definately be going along a wet track day to try and cover up my massive mistake. Disappointed that it hides the figure inside but oh well. Decal application was a real stress too and now I know I need to find some decal softener!

As for which wheel nut is the resin one, it's the rear right one and it's really well made so hard to tell it from the rest. It just happens to be a bit longer than the Tamiya ones but only a very tiny amount. Didn't smoke the rear windows neither because there wasn't any in stock and it's not something I use that often so choose to continue without it.

Really considering buying another one now and doing it properly but ofcourse money is an issue and I have something else I really really want to work on, being the Vertex Ridge S15 *drool*

I'm happy enough with it to be proud, seeing it amongst my other builds in my small collection, but at least I know what mistakes not to make now. I'm learning slowly with every kit, but improving all the way.

Re: Tamiya Xanavi GT-R R34

I found out a mistake .... theres a long mold line at the rear ... just next to the taillights... i didnt feel like saying anything as it might be offensive to u , yet i dont want u to make the same mistake for the next few kits... so im pointing that out for u.. Dont worry... i made that mistake myself too... Next time just remember to sand the body before painting
Did u spray clear with the windows on ????

Re: Tamiya Xanavi GT-R R34

Oh man, Can't believe I didn't spot that! I try to sand down all my bodies before primer etc but I must've been too impatient and careless. Lol I'd say thankyou for pointing that out but with a mould line that big, how could anyone not see it ? Oh and please never hold back on criticism because how else will I know how to improve on what I do. I accept all constructive criticism, thankyou.

And ye sprayed clear ontop of the windows. Was glueing the window piece onto the body then when I realised I was like...crap!

Yeh it really looks like rain, that gives me an idea. If you cut out a template for the wipers on the window and then clear it. It would look really realistic. Nice job.
