Re: 2001 Jeep Cherokee Wiring Diagrams?

The US models have the DRL, must have, the lights are on as soon as you start the vehicle. Just like the DRL feature on my Trans Sport.

I haven't got back to looking at it yet, should be next weekend when we get time to work on it.

Minnesota, and so is the owner of this Jeep.

Like i said, as far as i know it has the DRL, because the lights come on when the engine is started.

Re: 2001 Jeep Cherokee Wiring Diagrams?

so check it out.. all those people who are having a crazy hard time finding the VSS or Speed Signal Wire and the Reverse wire let me tell you where they are.. ALL INSIDE THE CAR.. no need to run wires through the firewall.

After spending about 2 hours looking on forums and trying to locate these wires i found them on my own..

The VSS wire is located behind the cluster panel (which i knew would be there just didn't want to play with random wires). I printed out a schematic which told me what each wire does.

This website will tell you what they are.
The VSS wire is the White wire with the orange stripe, it may not be in the same location as the website lists above but that is your wire.

Now for the Reverse light wire, I took off my taillight, put my truck in R, and used a meter til i found the color of my wire... Which is the Purple wire with Black stripe.. now i didn't want to run a wire from the back of my truck to the front so i found it under the driver's side kick panel. Again, it will still be the Purple wire with Black stripe.. use a meter or test light.. DO NOT JUST GO OFF CHOPPING PURPLE WIRES!!! Find out which one is the right one by putting your Vehicle in the ACC key position, put the vehicle in Reverse and stab a few wires til you get a signal.. ha.. then, while holding the signal, put your truck in park.. if you lose the signal than that is your wire!.. now go have fun
Anthony

ya.. its a 99 gc limited.. and i've had the nav in for a day now and it works like a charm.. got the new jvc kd-nx5000 and would recommend this single-din unit to anyone who is not wanting a flip-out or stock RB1 costs..

Re: 2001 Jeep Cherokee Wiring Diagrams?

Thanks for that info!

I actually got hung up on some stuff and we are just now getting back to this install, had to come back here and take note of some stuff i lost.

Amazing how one can get tied up doing things and suddenly its four months later.

That connector that the chart you posted a link to shows, is that easy to reach up behind the dash cluster or can you also follow the harness down and tap into it elsewhere?

Just curious where you tapped in on it.

Re: 2001 Jeep Cherokee Wiring Diagrams?

Its one of the wires that actually runs into the cluster gauge. Sorry for the delayed response as well, i actually haven't been able to see my jeep in months.. Been having to work so much. I used it to install my jvc kds5000 and have yet to have any problems with it. The only problem i've really had with my jeep is the fuel sending unit constantly going out and my heater not working on the passenger side. any ideas there?
