No way.

You could easily strangle somebody with a towel

anyways, I think whoever is behind all these bullshit stories, making up these fake plots has been watching too much MacGyver. Who makes a bomb with a bottle of water and toothpaste?

I dont think it was toothpaste in the tube.
I heard on MSNBC that it was hydrogen peroxide, but it was 100%. The stuff we buy at the drug stores is only 10-12%.
If its mixed, with say...... drano(lye) you could hav a messy situation if thats caped in a bottle.
Same with several chemicals thats readily available at your local hardware or drug emporium.

I'm sure the list of what you can take on board will slowly get smaller and smaller until thier is no carry on.

its the only way to fly

still havnt seen any photos of these new suspected terrorist

Not to down your theories or anything, but getting x-rays a lot is not healthy AT ALL...even with those lead vests. the public knows this and i bet would not allow something like that. ou'd be especially f-ed up if your a frequent flier

You're right, but that's not what I was saying. You can't have anything gelly or liquidy. Not even toothpaste in a tube, water in a bottle, hair gel, mouthwash with the plastic security wrap still on it.. nothing. This doesn't really bother me because I just buzzed my head and don't need hair gel. If I had hair I would just gel it before flying if hairstyle was that damn important to me. They have drinks so, I can live without water. And I wasn't planning on bringing mouthwash anyways. I can go 15 hours without brushing my teeth.

But.... this whole scenario makes no sense at all. It's clearly fake in my mind. They faked the terrorist plot, and to make us believe it more, they take away our privelidge to carry on things that don't really matter. It's like, whenever there hasn't been a terrorist attack recent enough, they just all of a sudden foil some plot, and then they explain exactly how they did it on the news. Then they have president bush make a few speeches about how important it is to keep fighting in Iraq. Wow.

I mean, after this do they really think terrorists are going to be trying again with the same plan? Give me a break. Then they make exceptions for people with kids and babies. Do they really think a terrorist who wants to kill thousands of innocent people wouldn't sacrifice a baby to get explosive baby food on board? Whatever.

So basically, with all these things in mind.. YES. I do believe that airport security is keeping me safe. I don't think there is any REAL threat. I don't actually think that anybody I have to worry about is trying to "luckily" sneak their weapons past security. It's bullshit.

good point. It could never happen.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

to many xrays
They arent good, esspecially if you are a frequent fly'r.

I thought they had been working on a different machine/device that is like an xray, but more like a MRI, to see if you were hiding something under you cloths.

This would be how they catch drug trafficers,
but terrorists, I hardly think so. I suppose we are alot safer today then we were a few years ago.
I think its pretty obvious who the "terrorists" are,
just by a visual conformation.

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

I've recently been watching the news, I finally got my locals through the dish, and watched as women had to throw away hundreds of dollars of makeup before they boarded. Men had to throw away tons of stuff too! It would compleatly piss me off to have to throw away my calone or something. All that stuff adds up!

But for my safetyt I am gratefull for it and I am very glad for them catching all thoes who want to blow normal people up!

Re: Think airport security is really keeping you safe?

Saw a story on Healine News this morning about airport security scanners being used (mainly in Europe now, but soon to be in US) that are so good the security personnel can see the passenger's private parts. The reporter doing the story had to wear a metal "block" in his pants to show the extent of the machine's capabilities. Civil liberty organizations are crying foul and calling it a literal, virtual strip search. I tried to find a link to the story but all I could find was a story they did back in 2002 that is very close to the story they did today. http://archives.cnn.com/2002/TRAVEL/...ray/index.html

The story did mention there was 4 such machines in operation presently in the US, but I didn't catch their locations. I guess they want to make them available at all major airports in the coming years.

You want to see something real neat...
Put the cap back on that soda real quik
Better RUN !!

I saw that new scanner today also on the news.
I'd eat like 3-4 viagras, then go get scanned for my flight

I was wondering how I could get some treats back from somewhere say like Amsterdam..... wonder if I ate it, would it show on the scanners ....

you may encounter the line "sir, is that a gun in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?"
