Shepherd can do a stock rebuild on your tranny for $945 if you really need to go that route. He built both my trannys and they have been rock solid man. He built my new one to be good for 10k rpm shifts... I just haven't got to test the new one out yet. lol

Know what I think? Perfect opportunity to do a 6 bolt swap. Like you said, 1d awd trannies are all over. My buddy is parting out his car, we've got a 6 bolt and the tranny if you want it.

When doing the 6 bolt swap into a 2g, you keep your 2g tranny because the 1g's rear motor mount is off the motor and not the tranny. The only way we can have our rear mount is by means of the tranny. Therefore we must keep our 2g trannys... Unless somebody wants to try a fun welding project on a 1g tranny. lol

Actually, my last tranny had a shift rail break and took out a lot of gears and everything. I'm sure its fixable unless you had something bust through the actually tranny housing.

Ok, depending on where it may have busted through it could still be fixable.

Ouch... Thats not good at all. I'm sure that its fixable though. It could be a shaft or some gear teeth broke and causing it to have some play in there and that wouldn't be so bad to replace.

Re: How to change awd to fwd in a 2G 5 spd?

I definetly see either intermediate shaft or input shaft bearings and some syncro rings... The worst it may have done is deeply scar the shafts and/or damage some other internal parts. It should be fixable man.

**EDIT**
I almost forgot... The bearings probably just naturally wore out. If you are running too thick of an oil though, that will also shorten the life of the bearing.

Lets just stick with saying its bearing failure.

So you think its fixable? when i get the time (1 week old baby and cars at my parents garage) and when its not so damn hott here (94 today!) im going to pull the trans, split the case and check out my damage. Check the cardomain site again for another picture of the side cover, i wanted to say that it somehow that gear i suppose gounded a hole in the side cover so i think i will be needing one of those if i cant jb weld it or something

Hmmm, I see that. I think that when the bearing went out it just slide the end of the shaft into it. If your gonna use JB weld just make sure theres no huge goobers hangin on the inside because I'm not sure how tight that shaft fits in the groove... Maybe once it all hardens, sand it down flush? Not sure how exactly... Where exactly is Allentown? Is it close to Ohio or is it more over by the ocean?
