Re: system of a down

They are decent but they are just a bit to political for me.

Way more talent in those 3 bands IMO. I never understood Darons guitar style. Its kinda like he is trying to re-invent the guitar. Well, IMO...some people have done it succesfully....but shit.

Next thing you know, SOAD will come out with a "Best Of" album and they will be screwed.

You can't seriously tell me that there is more talent in the emo nu-metal crap that is Avenged Sevenfold than there is in SOAD.

Serj has an incredible vocal range, can't say i'm a big fan of Daron's singing, but it's not bad. There's a lot of life left in these guys yet.

Re: system of a down

Toksin- In term of guitar ability, absolutely! Avenged Sevenfold blows SOAD out of the water in that department. And calling Avenged EMO/nu-metal???? Are you kidding me???? haha, ......thats funny.

That being said, SOAD and Avenged Sevenfold are 2 completely different bands. Its like comparing apples to oranges. To each their own I guess.

Re: system of a down

Okay, so if someone wears sunglasses, a hat and has tattoo's....this makes someone EMO? That is purely just an image for the band. Has nothing to do with the lyrics and what they are about. This is the most ridiculous thing I have read all night. This is purely judgemental, and I do not stand for that. Damn.....

Re: system of a down

IMO ~ A7X isn't anywhere near EMO. I dont hear any whining and crying over failed relationships and all that other crap that is associated with EMOness.

And they are 2 completely different styles of music.

Fall Out Boy = EMO
Hawthorne Heights = EMO
A7X = not so much

Just my opinon and it dont mean much.

Re: system of a down

^everyone quit bitchin', i'm no fan of a7x, but if you like them, you're gonna say they're good. Obviously, if you dislike a band, you're gonna say they're not good. Truth is every type of music is open to interpretation and will be different among every living person for reasons unknown. I'm a die-hard Tool fanatic, and i know many people who just can't get into them. I myself can't get into In Flames... Now, saying In Flames suck or isn't as talented as Tool would be ignorance on my part. Sure, i'll believe said statement, but in fact, its just not true. Talent is not measured in such a way. Sorry, but there is too much bias here in this thread. SOAD rocks, period. why? cuz they're a success, and many people like them. If you don't like them, doesn't mean they don't rock. they just do. similarily, if this thread was on a7x, they rock. I don't like them, period, but they're a success, and many people do.

period.

I agree. I dont bash anyones tastes in music, because mine are so far streched. I am a hard core Slipknot fan, and most people think it's just noise. So I see your point

Well put.

Re: system of a down

system of a down is good, their first album was the best by far. oh and serj sings well because he was an opera singer before SOAD. toxicity is an above average cd, steal this album was below average, and mezmerize + hypnotize were both average.

^imo toxicity was better than self-titled, though the latter was my favorite. it was put together better. also, Steal this album was basically a B-sides of toxicity, songs that didn't make it on, but still were good enough to be heard, plus a few new songs. plus, i wouldn't say mezmerize and hypnotize were average as they were very new and very different from anything system had done before. personally, i liked older system better, but their new stuff was just has politically hard-hitting and just as thought out.

Re: system of a down

IMO, Mesmerize was a lot better than Hypnotize. I own them both, but I get bored with Hypnotize much more easily. Older stuff still owns all though.
