No it's his Jag. His T Bird got T-boned...

You have a pretty good shot on getting a good car from auctions. If you go do that, let me know...

Re: Buying repo auction car good idea?

Either way i'd check out some auctions. You seem to know a decent amount of info on cars, so seeing if the car is a good deal or not shouldn't be hard.

You also have to remember some auctions let you test drive and some don't. and I usually look at the cars that are dirty in the engine bay besides the ones that are clean. The ones that are dirty are the ones that are the better ones sometimes. In my point of view when they are clean the dealers are trying to hide something like oil leak, and etc.

Re: Buying repo auction car good idea?

I bought my Silverado at a Dealer auction in Derry NH
At the time the KBB Value was around 21k... I ended up paying 14k cash (My dad fronted the money and I paid him back, BTW.. he has a dealers license)
At these auctions representatives from used car dealerships get to bid on cars that are turned in from being leased or bank repositions to turn them over on their own lot.
My truck didn't have a clean title.. there was a messy divorce and the dealership selling the truck to us was responsible for turning the title over within 2 weeks time.
After waiting a month.. I finally received the title.. because of the delay I was able to avoid the $400 processing fees..
I'm not familiar with Police auctions but I know for a fact you would not find any RX7's for $2500 at the Auctions I've been to..
My truck was in mint condition, not a scratch on it.. but it needed full brakes and a full set of tires.. so I invested another $1300 on top of the !4k... Still not bad with the KBB Value being Higher..
You can find a good deal at auctions.. you just have to sift through the scams and bullshit..

He's probably right the closer to a major city you go the better cars you will find. My friend got his in queens (Go figure). One other Gem I've seen was a running but stripped E46 M3 go for around 11k! If you go to a major city you will most likely find the car that infact you wanted all along.

Btw ~ The rx7 was so cheap because it was unbadged an blacked out - No one knew what it was...
