Re: GTO VS 05 Mustang GT

the Shelby GT500 makes 505....stock! with I.H.E. you might be looking at 550-560....for 41K I rather have the Shelby.

GTO has been stomping Mustang since the first models appeared 34 years ago. Some things never change. One Mustang owner had the foolishness to complain about the looks of GTO's tail lights and exhaust. Typical view a Mustang owner gets... So Ford can put a blower on a DOHC V8 and make it outrun a N/A "pushrod" engine? Big deal. Can we put the same blower on the Goat?

Well the Shelby is supposed to handle well too, although its a pig. Anyone know how much the Roush weighs? If the Roush is using the 3v engine like i think it does, the shelby would be more moddable.

I'd take either one, Roush if I was keeping it mostly stock, or Shelby if i was looking for as much power as i could get.

maybe with these cars coming out the 03-04 cobras will drop into my price range (15kish)

it also weighs 18million tons. the roush is over atleast 500 lbs lighter. the price on every shelby is also marked up 10k at the very least, but you probably couldnt get one for that. the roush is more of a sports car while the shelby is more of a muscle car. dont get me wrong i like the shelby, but i am somewhat dissapointed in the performance for having that much hp. and its all because of the weight.

OH yeah deffinetly. An modded GTO would stomp ground on a modded mustang easy as hell. The maggies give the goats like 560 horsepower.......at the wheels!
thats over 620 crank. Ive seen daily driven goats with less then 8 grand dropped in running 11 secs. Turboed 5.7s run 9s! but for camparison's sake I always look at stock for stock and in that prespective the Shelby is the bigger bully then the GTO. now mod and well......there really is no replacement for displacement

go go GTO

thats not a good comparison, because the shelby is already boosted, and the engine is made for boost from the factory. everyone knows its easier to get power out of a boosted engine. and its harder to boost a N/A engine than add boost to a boosted engine.

Re: GTO VS 05 Mustang GT

Boosted engine tend to gain more power from the little mods than their N/A cuzins do just a fact of life.

eh, its going to be lighter then the iron block/alum heads 5.4 that the shelby has....

the Z06 uses the LS7 and that weighs about 3100 lbs

i was complaining about the weight of the shelby, not the others. the shelby weighs considerably more than the others.

so your telling me you can get more power out of a 5.4 liter engine then you could from a 6.0 liter if they where both boosted???

the Shelby has 500hp with the boost on, with light mods like Intake, headers, exhaust and tune itd be 560-570 easy.
the GTO with a maggie SC makes 620. add the same mods as above and you get even more.

next!
