Re: Engine Questions...89 Wagon

Would it be worth it to buy a JDM motor for around 375 bucks? The tranny seems to be ok (its a stick) only thing that has gone wrong with it was the clutch cable breaking...and boy was that fun to fix!

Yeah sure you can do that and go down that road. You have to ask yourself if your willing to do the wiring conversion to mpfi and if you can afford the swap and its related components. If you want a JDM motor so your car can be peppier then thats fine, but it would be a lot better going into a lighter model civic. So if you can find a B2 block for dirt cheap, that would be a no questions asked, direct drop in. By "JDM motor" do you mean a single cam ZC? I guess you can drop the extra dimes in and make that swap a summer project, but it would be more time consuming than the B2 and probably not yield as good gas mileage. ..Plus i hear ZC's burn oil.

Re: Engine Questions...89 Wagon

Depends man... most of these engines are not direct drop in swaps and require lost of modification to work. You should do some searching and googeling about 88-91 civic/ crx engine swaps. I would not recommend you buying a b18c and dropping it into a wagon..but its up to you and how pimp you wanna make your wagon. What are you aims and goals? Are you looking for simplicity, cheapness, and gas mileage? If so then i would still recomend a D15. If not then the choice is up to you..just do some searching. Also i dont know much about nippon motors, give hmotorsonline.com a shot. GL

Re: Engine Questions...89 Wagon

Yea I'm pretty much wanting to just swap it out for the "same type motor". I'm not looking to get alot of power out of it...mainly for gas mileage. But it looks like most places that sell JDM motors only sell the D15B. Now I don't mind doing a little extra wiring as long as I have you all to help me But I'm not looking for a huge project here...just easy swap of motors. Thanks again for your guys' help!

In that case id say either stick with a D15B2 or D16A6 or you can look into newer D series engines...b series ones involve mounts and linkages etc etc.. your gonna have to pay a lot more...you really have to have your mind set on b series if your gonna go that path. But if all your looking for is gas mileage stick with some D series.

Re: Engine Questions...89 Wagon

The wagon is 4wd yes? now your looking at alot more than just the gnine and wiring, if you plan on keeping the 4wd I think youd need a braket correct? Or is that only for b series trans onto D's? Anyway, a D series definately sounds up your alley.

Mine's not 4wd...and I am having a hard time finding ANY D15B2's out there...will the plain ole D15B work instead? Thanks!

Re: Engine Questions...89 Wagon

correct me if im wrong but you can just swap the intake manifold from your old motor onto the new one and still have no wiring to do. it should run like that. if just for gas milage do that. its simple about 6 12mm bolts

Yes I believe someone mentioned that...And I think CRXperiment said it wasn't too hard to run the wiring for it...I may just go this route.

Dont get a plain D15B1.. trust me i have one in my standard civic and they suck turtle nuts. The engine only has like 70 hp...you dont want to drop that into your 2400 pound wagon. The D15B2 has like 92 hp so you really dont wanna make that downgrade to a B1. Yeah you can slap a dpfi intake on a D16A6, but why? its like sticking a 2 inch cock in a porn star's cooch. Theres no point. If you wanna run an A6 might as well convert to mpfi.

Nice analogies! I guess D16A6 it is. So pretty much all I will have to do is run 4+ extra wires so that the 4 additional fuel injectors get juice? Doesn't sound too difficult....or does it?!?!

EDIT: I just saw that one guy on here that makes the harnesses...I will prolly go that route to save some hassle!

Re: Engine Questions...89 Wagon

yeah bambam does that. sounds legit. and really really cheap. that would be the easyest way to go. but what i was thinking by the dpfi mani on the a6 was gas milage and it wouldent bring the power down from his old setup. and you could convert if you really wanted that power later. but sounds like you want the power now + good gas milage. this can be acheived for brobly under 500 bucks if you do the swap/pay bambam for the wiring. all in all thats really cheap. good luck
