Re: 99 suburban - wont start after rain

Ok from there it still could be several things. Items to check would be intermittent electrical issues, intermittent fuel issues and intermittent PCM (powertrain control module) or computer. The fun part is where to start. Since it just died like someone turned the key off, I would lean more towards electrical related problem and not fuel. The bad part is intermittent's can be the biggest pain to diagnose and even worse to find. Another problem is you may be chasing one problem to only find that you really have three. Sorry to sound dismal, but unless you can reproduce the problem consistently it is going to be hard to find.

Re: 99 suburban - wont start after rain

I am having the same problem, i bought this truck used and have had so many problems with it. I seriously think that it is moisture getting in the distributor cap. The fuel pump is working, I have replaced the spider injectors with the newest model, no check engine light... after she fires she runs good. I have noticed a little stumble here and there, but no light or code to indicate misfire. The only way we get it started when it acts up is to spray starting fluid in the butterfly and crank the hell out of it. The sad part is it doesn't do it all the time. just when it sits for more than a day in the rain.. WEIRD!!!!!!

yes it is regular maintenance. just letting you know.. mine did this 3 times random days... the last time it wouldn't start at all. It was running fine when i shut it off and it was infact the distributor cap and rotor. i have never had a vehicle that ran fine and not start because of a cap. normally it would start running like crap first...

and now after spending 75 bucks on new cap and rotor.... i broke something ..had to do 10 mph to get home.. felt like i had a loose tire. and it clunks when i put it in gear
