Re: Painting my car this weekend!

out of curiosity what all did you remove before painting?

It doens't look like you took the handles out (how was the rubber around them after?, and you didn't take off the window trim (did taping do alright?)

I had a hell of a time taping up my roof on the spyder. It sucked :/ lots of trash bags.

Re: Painting my car this weekend!

Looks real nice. Keep us updated with pics. Got a few questions....

1.Did you use a real spray gun, and how much did this project cost you?
2. Did you sand down the WHOLE car down to bare metal? What did you use?

Maybe a writeup would be nice. NICE JOB!

PS: I see that you need a antenna delete. Gives the car a real clean look. I did that to my eclipse when I installed the turbo spoiler. Very happy with the results, and still got perfect reception!

Re: Painting my car this weekend!

Absolute, I'd suggest researching alot all over the internet before you try and go painting a car by yourself. To get it to turn out nicely, it takes quite a bit of time and work, otherwise it will look like shit.

Travis, that looks pretty badass man, props on the color too. Now just lower that 4x4

Ohh I know that, lol, Plus I dont have a car to work on anymore, cant use the Cavy, its my daily driver. I have been researching for the past 2 days straight all over the internet for info on how to paint a car.

Plus I know I will mess up, but its for the fun of it...seriously.

Furthermore, when I installed the turbo spoiler on my eclipse, I had to bondo and repaint for the first time ever...I swear I never once knew what I was doing, and it turned out to be 8 out of 10. I was pretty darn proud of me-self..especially counting the fact I painted in my garage with no tarp and without covering the windows...I mean I knew I had to, I was just too lazy, lol.

Re: Painting my car this weekend!

Just google "automotive painting" or something along those lines. This is one of the first ones I got with that search.

Re: Painting my car this weekend!

Um..is it too late to say, LEAVE YOUR CAR WINGLESS! lol

Seriously, leave the turbo wing off, and take off the rear wiper, unless you actually use it...

Nice paint too...good job.
