Re: New F-body owner (need info)
Actually I think Erik (89IROC&RS) wrote up a thread once on putting a 4.3 in and what's needed.

Re: New F-body owner (need info)
Well the reason I was thinking the 4.3 was because of the electric speedometer, See when I built my blazer with the 4.3 it came out of a 1990 S10 truckand it had an electric speedo in it, where as the 88 model blazers did not therefore I never had a speedometer in the blazer, this camaro is the same way except I want a speedometer which means I'll have to throw down a huge chunk of change down on an electric controlled tranny to put in my v8 anyways. Or I could possibly find a camaro with a cable driven speedometer and swap it out but I wonder what all else would you have to swap out or would I need an entire guage cluster.

Re: New F-body owner (need info)
ummmm.... why don't you just by an aftermarket speedo??? Electric or cable driven, easy to install. The only problem with mechanical is that you need to know how many teeth are in the final drive gear (1:1) b/c you'll have to replace the speedo gear in the trans if you have a different than stock ring & pinion ratio, that is if you care about the speedo being correct.

Re: New F-body owner (need info)
There is a thread floating around somewhere about putting in a 4.3l. I really wanted to do it when I had a 2.8 88 rs. The 4.3l is just a 350 missing two cylinders it even uses the same mounts.
I agree with Jim- the speedo is not a big deal. You should be able to find one for a good price without too much hassle.
