Re: fuel pressure regulator 2001 5.3

Yes when i changed the regulator the truck starts and runs 100% better. Before I changed the regulator the truck was hard to start. Roll over and over and I had to press the gas in abit before it would start. Now fires right up. Quick easy fix.

Re: fuel pressure regulator 2001 5.3

Well I've only had the truck for the last year and it has a paper filter in it now and when I got it.
It looks to me like no one ever changed the pvc valve and that gave the TB alot of buildup.

Re: fuel pressure regulator 2001 5.3

I bought an aftermarket Fuel Regulator for $60. I got the worst gas milage, so I replaced it with a OEM for $100 and my millage was increased significantly. There are a differance in the regulator. I normally do not do Factory replacements, but in this case it was better than the aftermarket version.

I believe the PCV valve is on top on the manifold (however I am not sure). You should see a hose going to it.

Re: fuel pressure regulator 2001 5.3

The PVC is on the drivers side, all the way in the back, I believe on top of the valve cover. I was told to replace it every 10-15k miles, same with the fuel filter if not sooner.

You should probably start a new post for your problem. Fuel pressure specs are 53 - 65 PSI. If is falls flat after it gets warmed up, you need to see what the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor is reporting. Do you have access to a scan tool? If you pull off the vacuum hose to the FPR, is there fuel in the vacuum hose?

checking the fuel pressure with a pressure guage, and replacing the fuel filter every 30-40,ooomi ,,,,.

with loss of power after warm up this gets into intake/vecuum leaks,damaged/plugged cat converter, muffler system..

egr operation ,other components.. after the fuel pressure testing check for the DTC failure codes post back what found... this vehicle reports most every little failure...........

Re: fuel pressure regulator 2001 5.3

I have 180k on my 6.0L all ive done to it to keep it running right is keep the TB clean, change plugs, change wires, oil changes, and keep fluids changed in differentials, transfer case and tranny..... the motor still runs like it did new other than the piston slap when first startyed after sitting long enough to cool down but that goes away in 30 - 90 seconds..... I have never allowed it to get under 1/4 tank gas... gets 16 mpg average and does have a K&N filter ........ finally had front wheel bearing fail on drivers side this week ....... and my truck idles at 500 rpm and always has....
