Did the sound start only after the intake manifold gasket was replaced??
If the bolts of the lower intake manifold were over-torqued, the block is distored, causing immediate main bearing failure.

Did a shop do the manifold job? If so, that shop should buy you a new engine. Search here and the S-10 and Jimmy forums, I'm sure someone has posted the TSB describing your exact failure mode after manifold is overtorqued.
