God dammit I do NOT miss seeing shit like that at all. I don't think "Chosen few" were around when I left, all I remembered was the BBK and thier Ev-boes and the unbelievable retardedness of it all. I'm guessing the Chosen few are the sort of idiors think it's all sweet to drive around in 318i's and 190E 1.8's (Or have they moved onto C180's and C220's now?) on 18 inch Chrome wheels rubbing against thier bump stops, because fiddy cent would be down fo that. Chosen Few were around when BBK were around and now they one of the biggest or could be the biggest car club in NZ an they are also in Aussie. One thing i know is that they have alot of respect out there because they have done it, and been around for so long. They even have their own 10sec car. (BUKYLD). And as for cars with 18inch chrome rubbing against their bump stops, they usually on bags.
www.chosenfew.co.nz

oh an im a member of another big car club...

Re: Evo I, II, III Vs DSM

Airbags on a rally-bred homologation special are ridiculous, leave them for the kids in thier 318i's, F22 Accords or Skyline GTS, or whatever is the thing these days.

Far as I'm concerned the Chosen few are no better than the kids over here who race around in thier 106's, Opel Corsas and Puntos

Re: Evo I, II, III Vs DSM

Ok People on a side note here I may have a project brewing now

If you look at the back of a mitsubishi mirage (4 door) and an evo, they kind of look similar. I have been trying to figure out how these people import these cars and are able to drive them around the US. They aren't they are making them out of mirage (or accually importing them and calling them mirages)

I think it would be a fun project to make one of these cars. However the Mirage are kind of rare. (if anyone has one for sale I am very interested (4 door))
It would take a 1994-1995 4 door and rip it down completely and reasemble it with evo parts. I think I would choose to do an Evo 3 because of the engine is still in the origional position where as the evo 4 has it flipped (and good luck trying to find parts for that) Right now I am trying to figure out which parts would be interchangable. I am thinking they may share a lot of components with the Galant vr-4 and DSM hopefully. When I am done though I should get something that weighs 2800 or less, 4 door, and very good handling. What do you people think.

I am definatly going to need peoples help who own an evo 3 (looking to the people from australia NZ) to tell me how to mod or what parts look a like or what parts do I need to get it looking like a real evo

Anyway it would be a fun project

Just like 90% of the shit the choosen few drive.
I live in Auckland, Iv seen them around.

And just how many members does the choosen few have? And are they actualy registered as a "club" i.e. a non profit organisation, with an elected comittie, and recognition by one of the national motorsport bodies?
And do they organise legal events, inter club compitions, car shows etc?
Or are they just a bunch of wanna be's with a common email list who can't arrange much more than some illegal burn outs in a patch of diesel around East Tamiki?

I think you will find that one of the more establish clubs, like the South Auckland Car Club would be the biggest.
I believe the Southland Car Club is currently the biggest though.

If you have a search in the Lance and Mirage forums you will find some threads on just this project.
The Japanese Lance was sold in the US under both the Lancer and Mirage names depending on generation.
And I think that at the end of the day, it would be cheaper and easier to buy a US spec EVO, and modify it.

Wow, I heard that Click all the way from over here.

Seriously, Has there ever been a Chosen Few trackday? The way I gather it, is that they are a group of 16-20 year old kids from that huge suburban thing they were building at Botany (And prolly finished ages ago, I just never was there to see it ), Glendowie-ish area and the North Shore driving 318i's and C Class' (Or completely rooted GTSt Skylines and Lancer GSR's), drive around with thier less than fortunate mates from Otara/Otahuhu and try to drag anyone next to them at the lights. (It could be grandma in her Toyota Echo and they'd still do it).

That's before proceeding to East Tamaki/Wiri to do burnouts and then whinge when pinged by the Police for being little shits. Also, do they think Hondas are Ghey boe?

Re: Evo I, II, III Vs DSM

God knows, I haven't been in NZ since 2002, but for a week last December, but that's very much the way the BBK were back when I was living there.

Jimster, from what Iv seen most of these guys are in the mid 20s, working at average jobs, but still live at home. So they have lots of money to throw around.
Hence the big shiny wheels on an EVO.
And the Police have done a good job of shutting down a lot of the illegal racing, it still goes on of course, just in smaller numbers (no more groups of 2,000 cars traveling in file through red lights).
Unfortunatly it now means they all cruise around at 10kph below the speed limit hoping everyone is looking at them, and thinking thier cool (yeah right).
Then when its dark, and raining, they might, if they've checked there are no cops around, try and do a burn out.
