In reality the cars usually not gonna go that fast off of the dyno. Dyno runs are not conducted in 1st gear. Mine was done in 3rd, and I would think that the car would more or less just hop first, peel out, and maybe go a few feet. Then again I guess an automatic car would be different.

HP is the same reguardless...you just have to correct the torque because it will be multiplied through gearing.
Cars comming off dyno's at 120mph would be that bad, especially in a manal. the car has 0 inertia and unless it is AWD the tires arent going to have the traction to dump all of that inertia fro mthe engine, transmission, drive shaft, and wheels to the ground at once. it isnt going to be pretty, but it isnt going to be ungoddly violent. the worse thing that could happen would be rolling forward just far enough for the back tires (assuming a FWD car) to hit the roller....which has many many foot pounds of inertia. |
