Ouch! 8 mpg? Thats worse than a SUV. I can see your classic car getting that fuel mileage. With the cost of fuel today probably worth trying to figure it out when you the opportunity. It would drive me nuts.

Re: Belt size change

Luckily or unluckily depending on how you look at it I have not had much time for anything but work, so I only have to drive about 3 miles to work and 3 back so that is why I said it hadn't bothered me much yet. The first chance I get with some free time I am gonna spend it figuring it out. It has to be the maf or iac or one of those other fabulous sensors or controllers.

Re: Belt size change

Wow thats crazy your gas mileage is just not making sense. With a 3.8 even with city driving you should be doing much better. Are you sure those number are accurate because if so you definately have an issue on your hands.Id even go out on a limb here and say a problem that big would of caused a check engine light by now.

You still only spend $15 a week on gas and I'm spending $60 even though I get 25 mpg. Your car wouldn't even reach maximum operating temperature in 3 miles. Just think, if you had a Moped you would only spend about $1 a week in gas.

Re: Belt size change

Yes the light has been tripped. No unless I sit and let the car warm up first it will not reach operating temp.

Re: Belt size change

Motormite makes a/c compressor bypass pullies for gm 3.8's and 3.1's and the 5.7's. cheap...only $40.00 and bolts directly on in replacement of the compressor. I've used them and they are slick~!! I can weld and all myself, but for that price i dont even bother trying to make my own pully. just letting you all know.
