Re: Excellent build quality on the Corvette

Its not the fact that its a fluke....its the fact that it shouldnt happen at all. The Corvette is the idol of american motorsports, its pride, its representative! you dont see shit lie this happening to the Skyline or the Carrera. you wanna know why?

Beacuse they have quality control and take pride in thier work rather then trying to turn a quick buck!

Also Josh, look at it this way bud. GM is not the only company that employs american people. I get a kick out of the old Vietnam vetts and the harley davidson drunks who say "Japanese cars are taking our jobs" and what not. Fact is Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Volks-Wagen, Mecedes Benz, BMW, Hyundai, ect ect.... employ americans to work on thier factories here in the US. SO if GM closses....um....move next door!

Oh and no Im not gonna write a letter, I find it offensive. See im the consumer, as a consumer I pay money, because I pay money that makes me the boss, and as the boss I demand a quality product. Therefore writing a letter is a waste of time. We have the right to demand, GM is too lazy or stupid to listen to the consumer...then dont let the door smack them on the way out!

Re: Excellent build quality on the Corvette

Ok guys calm down a bit.

Josh it seems you are talking this a bit personally, I assume you have some family or friends involved in this problem and we can understand why you are so upset. GM troubles affect many hard working families.

However ,this is not a GM bashing thread, its just a pun at a corvette that clearly had a defect. This is somewhat common on low series cars, especially hand built ones. One stressed or tired worker and you have a mistake. Well this is what warranties are for.

And yes there was some criticism at GM quality, but it was quite constructive. I'm quite ssure musashi does not hate chevy since he has a GTO and he seems to like it.

So lets play nice guys.

Re: Excellent build quality on the Corvette

Right! I love my GTO and I support Chevy! But I get upset when these things happen because it reflects badly on us and If you support something you take it a little harder when your team makes mistakes!

I think Josh actually works for them as well so more power to ya.

Re: Excellent build quality on the Corvette

^I was under the impression that he works for them too. I owned a GM once myself, and wasn't all that happy about the quality of their parts (I was able to cut out part of the inner door with my tin snips), but the car never had any major problems with it, and I bought it with 150K on the clock... if I were that vette owner though, I'd be pretty steamed about the roof coming off after only driving the car 2,000K, let alone the roof comming off in general.

Yeah, but it does wonders for your reputation, especially with one that is as prestigious as GM's.

Re: Excellent build quality on the Corvette

I dunno, both of my parents GM vehicles have been nothing but junk heaps. Transmissions, electrical, computers, you name it, its gone wrong. Leaking convertible tops, sensors and locks failing. My grandparents Chevy has needed a new ECU, new locks also. Dad is going to buy a 350Z in the future (still not top quality but he has money now so he doesnt care) My 11 year old Honda is the emergency car when one of the others has a problem

If it has over 230,000 miles on it, it will break.

Re: Excellent build quality on the Corvette

My dad has his new truck with minimal electronics because he has just been fed up with them always going back. So now he purposely bought a truck with no power windows, locks, seats, etc. He's actually quite happy with it too.

My pappys 2000 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton Z71 really hasn't had anything REALLY wrong with it, U-Joints replaced, some sticking of the pedels, other than that, it still works, and we abuse it.
