Ok, I might just be ratarded but are you thinking that the front aread of an ic, the part that you can see, sucks in air? There is no connection with the outside air there. Outside air just passes over the tubes on the ic core that the air in the intake is passing through.

I know this is ghetto but I thought it might help explain it.

That would defeat the purpose of an IC. When the ambient air goes into the turbo and is forced into the intake, it heats up because of pressure. The IC there is to cool it back down so the motor isn't taking in hot air.
