Re: 1/12 Scale Jaguar XJR-14 WIP

Great...

I have tons of ideas in mind but was never skilled in CATIA to construct a body shell on the computer. But now that I hear the process is about 3500 $ I guess I will have to park these thoughts in the dreams corner.

Suggestion for future projects. A good 1:12 Ford GT40 MKI. I'll be first in line for that one!

It's quite a daunting task you've undertaken, I know something about building a complete car from scratch, though it's a completely different type of car, It took 5 years in front of a computer off and on for me to complete my design of a dirt late model (an american dirt oval race car), it's 1:24 and has approx 1000 pieces (i'm not sure of the exact number because i haven't counted the engine parts yet), most all photoetched parts (since the cars are largely made of sheet aluminum and flat billett milled parts).... and that took me a very long time to do.. and the part complexity on the cars i'm doing is much simpler then the XJR-14.. so i can't imagine how much time in the cad program it's going to take to model all those parts.. There are a number of parts i'd like to do with SLI myself.. that's something for the future keep us posted, i'm extremely interested in your project.

I realy don't understand what is going on here. I recieved this email letting me know that someone had replied to a thread I started. When I go to the forum I not only can't find my thread until I get to page five, but the post contained in the email above is not even there. I sure wish this site would run a bit smoother. I have had nothing but problems trying to post pictures lately here. There realy is no excuss for it all.

As to an update of the project. Well,,,, there really has been no progress in months. I've been busy finishing renovations on my home and have not had time for modeling. In an attempt to keep things progressing on the XJR, I "Gave" all the masters I had completed to date to a good friend of mine but he has yet to do anything with them. So If I finish the house before he starts anything with them I will re-aquire them and continue on.

Until then, Thanks for your interest,

Icon Modeler

Re: 1/12 Scale Jaguar XJR-14 WIP

IM, I guess the poster deleted the post afterwards and that's why it's not there.

As for posting pictues, I suggest you use photobucket (or similar) - that works just fine. I see your earlier pictures were hosted directly in the AF gallery and I beleive that they have now suspended this service and that may be the source of your problem.

Hurry up with your house! I'd also love to see some progess on this very unique project
