as for the GTI I am not talking 06...the 06 is a 30k (Cdn) car and as about 12-13k our of my price range

It was really just fuel economy and price...the used VR6's with comparable kms are going for a higher price, and from the fuel effeciency data the 1.8T is a bit better...and even if it doesnt ask for it im putting high octane fuel in it anyways

Re: Decision time 2/3 cars now

So you think you're getting the VW 1.8T then? You should definitely use high octane even if "it doesn't call for it." My wife's Passat has a 1.8T with 17Xk miles on it. But it's engineered differently and sits longitudinal in the engine bay (Audi design). The point is if you want to extend the life of your turbo car, use the best gas and the best oil.

I'm just saying that from my experience with a VW product, that if you want them to last you gotta be shelling out the cash.

But since you're already use to doing that from previously owning a RSX-S...

Anyway, also speaking from personal experience... the stereo system has a tendency to fuck up but you'll probably replace it. The axles were recalled on the Passat not sure about the other models. Also, depending on the year you buy, some models had cheap plastic power window brackets that would break causing the windows to drop into the doors...
