Re: O/T Pinks!

I just nod to most of what was posted.

The guy had a good setup... for going from a roll. Not using slicks was a mistake, not having a locking differential wasn't bright, and I'm sure there are other tricks the Honda guys have up their sleeves for traction. Beyond that, I didn't get the impression the driver was ready. He didn't seem very "stable" under the pressure.

I don't know what he was tuning with. Hondata, Uberdata, Crome, or whatever? They're ROM tuning for the stock ECU (I think). If he didn't have slicks I doubt he had standalone. I don't think there's anyway that car would have run as well as it did without anything.

There are fast Hondas. IMO, they could have been better represented. I'm trying to be fair and nice, but the whole thing was pretty gay. Even if you win with twenty lengths you look like a pussy, and still lose.

Whatevs. I want to see a fast DSM or Civic hatch.

Re: O/T Pinks!

Since everybody wants to bring up the question of why he didnt run slicks in the first place: he said the producers told him to because they didnt want him to break the car's stock axles.

I have a lot of gripes with the way the show is run, and you hit on one of them.

The producers want good tv, which means the Civic lasting the duration, and having a close race. However, if the guy was running even half the hp he was claiming, he should have known enough to know better. Fuck the producer, run the slicks. Just my 2cents.

Re: O/T Pinks!

It would be good TV to see both cars go at it to their full potential! That's what any car enthusiast would want to see.

Re: O/T Pinks!

Why in the hell out a built car like that not have aftermarket axles? gsx_hooptie is right though, asking for 20 lengths is hilarious. He could have beaten the T/A by like a bus and a half, and in my eyes he would still have lost. I do have a few comments on that show. Who brings a 20+ person crew to the track? I think that show should be more focused on more normal DD's that these caged purpose built race cars. Also, WTF is up with giving someone lengths? They should be paired closer if they need lengths. I am a firm believer in racing straight up off a line, doing it anyway else doesnt quite seem like racing to me.
