Re: This is BULLSHIT (esp. for all you cali guys)

Looks like since there aren't enough murderers, rapists, drug dealers and gangs on the loose in California, the police must keep themselves busy by stopping civics with an intake and exhaust, generating a mind-boggling and very illegal 120 horsepower to the crank. What bull-f_cking-shit this state is becoming.

I have *never* seen or heard of a muscle car get pulled over to have it's exhaust system checked, or an officer yelping about how horrendously loud those things are. Double-standards and redundant politics.

Look, I can understand everyone's dislike of this law however, let me make this clear.

1) you are mad at the legislative people who passed the law, not the police, so stop calling them pigs on here

2) This is not 'gay'. It sucks, it maybe stupid, it maybe plenty of other things, but it is not homosexual. So find a better adjective to describe your displeasure.

3) All the cursing, really isn't necessary. Let's try and keep this forum remotely clean.

UNDERSTAND? Good.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

That is very true and often overlooked.

A professor of mine had a corvette of the year when more smog laws were being passed (late 70s? Can't remember). Check this out: His car came catless from the factory, but regulations required that particular year of cars to have the dealership put a catalytic convertor on. After putting on a cat. as required by law, his car ended up somehow passing out almost twice as many HCs and pollutants as when the car was smogged without a cat. He took his case to the referee and wrote a letter to the legislative, asking if the cats hould be removed, since it was causing the car to pollute more. They told him that it was against the smog laws to run without a cat.

Another story of political redundancy and beuracracy in CA. He had another corvette, mid-80's. He put two high-flow cats where there was just one, and tested the outcome. His car was producing significantly less emissions, than even the maximum required by law. So, after modding his exhaust system, the exhaust produced by his car was cleaner than the factory set-up. Guess what? He was told it was illegal under smog laws to moddify your exhaust system in any way. He told them that the car was now running much cleaner than the stock set-up. They repeated that to him. So let me get this straight. Mother nature is having problems with the cosmetic side of smog? I thought it was only the emissions that caused the smog laws to go into affect.

What a retarded state I live in.

True True... I really cant stand when people dont understand logical thinking...

I also dont understand how people can stand by what they are saying when it is obviously illogical! I mean.. "ohh less pollutants ... really show me proof... ok on your way" should be how it worked.

I had a cop pull me over because they had reported me not paying for gas! He is pointing his gun and yelling at me actiong like I have a missile launcher in my car bond style... I calmly tell him that I paid.. while he continues to scream and call for backup and point his firearm at me... ten minuets later he is apologizes because the gas station called and said there was something wrong with their computers... he could see that I was calm so he should have settled down. if i was a jerk i could get him in trouble... I understand they are just working so its cool but it really pisses me off because he was treating me like scum and wouldnt listen...

Re: This is BULLSHIT (esp. for all you cali guys)

I'd be pissed off too if I were you. Yeah, they are just trying to do there job but you have to look at an even larger picture than just the legislative branch. There are laws you could get in trouble for that police don't really enforce because they are small or old laws (ie. spitting on the sidewalk, having an affair, yes those are still in the books). My point is that yeah it was a stupid law made up by the legislative branch but cops choose to enforce this unjust law (in my opinion) when they really would not have to. Yes I said it, they wouldn't be in any trouble if they didn't enforce this because there are so many people that just don't care if someone has an aftermarket intake. Therefore I would be very surprised if anyone raised any hell about it. Also, the police force (executive branch) can make suggestions or try and get a law passed. So I do not think this is just the legislative branch. Thats my two cents.
