Re: Sammy Swindell 2006 Sprintcar

Heres an update miles along from where I left off, have been posting on a sprintcar modelling forum but thought should update the thread here too.

Have installed the engine, suspension, the car is mocked up just for photos, am gluing the bodywork and final parts on, have stickered up everything except the wing, which is on today's "to do" list. Final photos are close.

Heres the car as it stands today...

Re: Sammy Swindell 2006 Sprintcar

Welcome back. Good to see this one back on the forum, funny thing is I was just thinking about this thread the other nite. Looking really nice. All the rollcage and linkages and bumpers, (nerf bars?) look clean and well done. I like the colour you have for the exhaust. The red cover on the rear wheel, is this common on sprint cars now? I have never seen that before. Looking forward to seeing this in the finished gallery.

The cover is often known as a "mud plug".Very common for many years. Its usually either an aluminum disc screwed in place or a foam plug pushed into the rim.Keeps mud and dirt from building up and throwing the wheel(s,some guys use one on each wheel)out of balance.

Re: Sammy Swindell 2006 Sprintcar

Car has been finished although the conditions for taking photos are rubbish. I will take photos in daylight tomorrow morning and post them up.

Happy with the outcome, the car looks good although could have done with a bit better fit here and there. Just a relief to have it done.

Photos to follow....
