Re: New System

Ah, def might be interested. Question though, I was talking to a couple guys at work and they were saying for the high end stuff that they have on ebay like Phoenix Gold, Diamond Audio, etc which I've seen for some amazing prices that it'd be too much bass for my truck and probably blow windows and shit, so I dunno if anyone else has a Silverado and could tell me generally what's the limit on what you could go, or if their is even a limit, but any help on that is appreciated.

I'm gonna see what I can do, but I already have about 1500 + whatever I get back from BB so I'm open to suggestions on anything.

Re: New System

hahahah oh mannn dont listen to local shops.. please.. theyre almost always full of shit..

no youre not gonna blow your windows out. i think youll have to be upwards of liek 160db for that kinda thing to start happening... and youre not gonna get there easily thats for damn sure. dont worry abotu it go as loud as you want (just worry abotu your hearing if anything.. you only get one set of hearing nerves haha)

but with a limit like that you can afford a pretty decent little system thats for sure. let us knwo how you want to spend it and we'll guide you along the way.

Re: New System

They were guys from work, the brands I was asking about they were saying were comp shit, so that's why it'd blow my windows or whatever being so much bass, but since I never dealt with really high end stuff and am still new to audio in general, figured I'd ask here to double check, just in case.

Anyway, I listen to about 50/50 for rock/rap, so at times I need more bass, other times not so much. Pretty much I like to listen to my music loud and get it as clear as possible, and with rap clear and with decent amount of bass to back it up.

I'm pretty much open to brands right now as I'm still new and haven't really heard much of a variety, just basing things on people's opinions right now.

I'd like to do component speakers in front/back with a decent amp, and then some good subs with an amp to that obviously, since I have a truck space isn't really much of a problem, although I have the fold down back seat so I need a box that would work underneath or at least not as visible as just putting on top of seat.

So basically looking for a powerful system that can handle rock and rap pretty equally or at least so I can adjust accordingly when I listen to either one.

Um, dunno what else you need, but if their are any other questions I'll answer as best I can.

Re: New System

From searching on ebay -

Front -Boston Acoustics 6.5" Pro60 - $299
Rear - Undecided on rear door speakers need 4 X 6 though if anyone has suggestions.
Amp - Not sure, is it better to get one really powerful one to use on both, or better to get two seperate?
Subs - Looking at JL Audio 12W6V2 ($320 Each), Rockford Fosgate P312D4 Stage 3 ($270 For Pair) -Dunno how legit it is, but meh I'll list it, or Phoenix Gold TI12D ($325 Each)

Like I said my spending limit is probably gonna be about $1500 or so, might even bump up to $2000 if I needed to. So this is generally what I'm looking at, if anyone has any other suggestions, or stuff that would be better for what I want to do please link me. Thanks.

Re: New System

Nice choices, im pretty sure you can scrap the rockfords cause there not that great unless you want to hand out alot more for the power series. The jl is nice but a better one can be had for about the same price look at the REaudio SX, or SE, or if you want to keep it mainstream maybe a alpine type-r. AS for amp are you asking one for each sub and the speakers or 2 seperate ones. I would say look into a mono block d class amp for the subs and a 4 channel for the speakers. They do have 4x6 plates with is a little 3.5-4 inch speaker and a tweeter for rear fill should be better than nothing i know infinity makes some so does mb quart, just for rear fill so they dont have to be the best.

For the guys at work its almost impossible to blow out a window, not impossible almost ive seen videos of trucks with 155+ db with stock glass and all it does is move with the bass. 1500-2000 is a decent amount to put into a system.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: New System

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I got a decent amp it'd be enough for speakers and subs, but I'm assuming the only way to get the best sound would be one amp for speakers, and another for the subs like you were suggesting?

If so I saw a Phoenix Gold 8.04 - 4 channel amp for about $160, and a mono 15.01 for about $250.

I saw the type R subs, but they also had the type X, anyone have these or know anything about them? I also saw some MB Quart, Phoenix Gold, JL Audio, Boston Acoustics, and Eclipse Subs for around my price range. So really it'd just be basing off of opinions on which are the best overall - quality and price wise. So keep the suggestions coming.

Re: New System

right not at elementaldesings.com there is a sale. 2 13kv.2 D4 subs and a NINE.2X amp for 450. that and a prefab 1 cube per sub sealed box with about 50 bucks for wiring and you have a pretty sweet substage. nothing too loud and great SQ. you could even go with 13ov.2s and a NINE.1 and spend about a thousand bucks. this would leave you with 500-1000 dollars on a frontstage. If you already have the alpine h/u you doing good. spend 500 on a set of focal utopia components and get a 4 channel amp. that would be a pretty sweet setup. its oozing with SQ
