Re: Bad Gas? Fuel Filter?

Okay, so I succesfully changed the plugs and wires yesterday WOOHOO, and I changed the air filter.

WHen I tried to start the car this morning, I had the same problems. Once it is running, it runs great.

Let me decribe the problem with a little more detail. When I try and start the car in the morning (when its cold) I have to give it some gas or it won't start. FInally it will begin running and run gfor 5 -10 minutes than stall out. Then I can start it again easily but it will only run for say 30 second to a minute and then it will stall out again. When it stalls out it it usuially revs cuts out revs cuts out and then stalls. It is like it is trying to keep running but it stalls out. Once the car finally warms up it runs excellent.

What now?

I will get the car scanned this weekend. Any Ideas?

Re: Bad Gas? Fuel Filter?

Get your codes scanned and start there. If no codes come up get your fuel pressure tested, or you could test for spark when your car is cold.

There should be a fuel pressure regulator at the end of one of the fuel rails, after you've ran the motor pull the vacume line off of that and see if you get any gas out of it (if it leaks stop the leak imediatly so you don't catch your car on fire), that could be the problem, but im not sure that a bad one will always leak. Has your car been getting bad gas mileage lately?

Again it could be many things from dirty injectors, to a bad mass airflow sensor, to an idle position motor, to the fuel pressure regulator being bad,
or a crack in one of the coilpacks (when it drys out the car runs fine).

Sorry man I don't have the magic "easy" button for this problem.

Re: Bad Gas? Fuel Filter?

Maybe you hav more than just bad gas in the tank...

Pull the IAC out of the throtle body and see how its lookin.

If its full of thick black carbon, get some TB cleaner and clean the opening out good and let dry. Dont turn the end of the piece that comes out(the pental), it'll thow it outa wack!
I bet its full of carbon inside there and your intake .

Evn your EGR valve could be pluged or just not working
Also make double sure that thier isnt any Vacum lines disconnected or leaking.

And as gmack221 said, Thier is No Easy Button!

Re: Bad Gas? Fuel Filter?

I think there is an easy button I just can't find it. Just joking guys.

I really appreciate the help. I am learning a lot about cars... changed my first fuel filter annd my first set of spark plugs.

I will get the car scanned tommorow.

If the check engine light goes out are the codes still stored?
