Re: B & M Short Shifter
Ok I installed my new shifter today and yes it was pretty easy. The only part that I had trouble with was putting that little metal clip back on the bottom of the shifter. That was a big pain in the butt. Other then that I didn't have any problems and it only took like an hour. One thing I did notice is that when I was taking things apart (the long bolt that goes across) I heard something fall but could never figure out what the heck it was. So when I was all done I looked everywhere but ended up putting everything back together the way I thought I took it apart. It seems to work just fine and it feels awesome.
One problem I am having is that I did order a new MOMO boot as well as the MOMO shifter knob. The boot is Way Way Way to big and I don't have a clue how I am going to get it to work. I think I am going to put the stock boot back on and it works just fine. Any ideas anyone???

Re: B & M Short Shifter
What the hell was the purpose of getting that boot anyway? Does it look that much different than stock? A boot is a boot IMO.

Re: B & M Short Shifter
Well I learned a lesson there. LOL Your absolutly right about that boot. I am going to put the stock one back on and sell this one on e-bay to some sucker like me....LOL 50 bucks for that stupid thing. The only reason I got it was to match the knob.
I guess we all make mistakes when it comes to trying to get our cars to look and run nicely.

Re: B & M Short Shifter
Well, I think you helped a bunch of us out who might have thought to get that thing (Not me, but maybe some other poor bastards...lol). Your loss was all of our gain, so look at it that way, you have contributed to the massive wealth of knowledge that this forum has to offer.
Just a side note: I just installed my Energy Susp. Shifter bushings, and wow, what a difference that made. If you ever think that your shifter has any play in it, or like your shifts dont really seem crisp I would get these, wicked cheap 2.

Re: B & M Short Shifter
I only had an hour to get my short shifter in so I was in the process of taking the bushings out and replaceing them and I had problems getting the first one off. So I just put the bolts back on and I will have to do them later. But now that I know how to get everything off I should be able to get it done pretty fast. Is there a trick to making it easier? Any advise would be awesome.

Re: B & M Short Shifter
ummm, no? my car is still fairly new, so doing modifications on it isn't hard since the bolts aren't entirely set in yet.. might help to get a couple screwdrivers to use... but iono for sure
you can try using one to push them out through the top, and the other to break the contact b/t the boot piece and the center metal console. dropping them would be a bad thing though, so having a person helping isn't a bad plan

Re: B & M Short Shifter
if you want to make your life easier, also take off your dash part (around your cd player...the plastic piece). It will help ALOT when you try to get to the front 2 bushings.

Re: B & M Short Shifter
I know with the 01 it was almost necessary to take the center piece off. The piece with the ashtray in it. That just has 4 screws and is simple to get off. I haven't had time to put the bushing in yet, but I have them and will for sure get em in soon.
