not everyone laughs at em. I've had nothing but compliments on my modded metro convertible. Even from people with 600hp supras. People like the little convertible. Just don't be retarded and stick a huge Hunduh flyer aluminum wing on it. Unless ur car is breakin 170mph, the wing is just a hinderance of your view, and everyone else's eyes, lol. www.ssgti.com has some bad ass suzuki swift's (JDM geo metro) if you want to take a look at them.

what SCCA class is the Metro in? Is it even in a class? Autocrossing is all 1 & 2 gears anyway twisting through narrow cones. The I-3 Metro might actually be a pretty fun little racer.
I've seen Yugos (fiat clone) and Fiats at SCCA events. |

Metros/swifts run in the same categories as other cars. My friend runs his 90 swift GT in ITB class.

I'm not a geo guy, but I heard of a fellow Honda guy who was cruising once, and raced a geo metro. He ended up getting mowed by the metro. He talked to the guy later, turned out, he supposedly had thousands of dollars into the metro's engine...sweet.
Hey, a fast metro would be sweet, because it's one of the most unexpected cars to modify. I considered buying a metro as a second car, because when my CRX is in the shop, I need something to get me to work, still. If I got a metro, I'd slap my ZEX kit on it, hehe...

To be completely honest, I don't get the idea of dumping thousands of dollars into a dime a dozen economy car, much less a metro, I save that for something with some resale value, but whatever flips your switch. I prefer to just keep my geos running, and dump all my money into my Jeeps, heck, if I wasn't saving so much money on gas, I'd use the geos as ramps to test my suspention flex.
As for mixing a V8 and a 1.0, not doable, the V8 would tear the 1.0 to shreds, not to mention the 1.0 bogging the V8 down, if you are set on a twin engine metro, you want to use matching engines. Just my opinion, nothing more. |

You don't need to spend thousands on a metro. From original purchase to all the mods I've done, i've maybe spent $2500? Now, a honda civic that I could dust would run someone over $5000, plus about $4000 in mods, and they pay 3 times as much for insurance, and my swift engine is just as reliable, and has all forged internals, completely ready for a turbo. I can put a turbo that'll bring me into the 12's for under $2000. It's more of a prefrence. I'm not a rich man, so I love my geo. If I made more money, yeah, i'd have a supra or an S2000, but i'm poor, lol.
That's why I call my car the junkyard racer. But hey, some guys drive vettes, i drive a Geo. I give props to people who make best with what they got.

i did some research on the geo and i foud out that it is a patetic excuce for a car , the car was biult to be extremely cheap and to do that everything was sacrificed. But if you do plan on raceing your car then be prepared to dump ungodly amounts of time and money into it and don't plan on selling it because no one will want to buy your mistake . i figure if your want to go fast buy a fast car (camaro, firebird, monte carlo and most large famaly sedans go fast) oh and i'd hate to break your heart but the four clyender geo metro runs a 1\4 mile in 18.18 seconds at 76mph, i can imagine how fast the 3cyl (53hp) goes

Yeah I have a crappy ass metro too, I'd love to stick a swift 16 valve in it. It's a direct bolt in you only need to change the wire harness and computer. It's not the car, it's what's under the hood. You can have a stupid wing two feet off the back and huge exh and rims etc, but you know what, they only attract every cop in town and don't make the car much if any faster! GO FOR IT!
By the way metros are more fun then people give them credit for, take a manual steering one hard into a corner and let those tires squeal. Brings a smile to my face every time! |
