Im not really sure why the front square trend persists. Im guessing that contemporary designer/tuner always tried to keep that oldschool tuned s13 or smoothed-skyline square looks... yeah I saw the evo concept. It might seem square-ish, but for rally purposes its actually quite aerodynamic. Zero lift up to a point & after all they kinda need all that air to come inside the grill. But its trying too much to look like a scion tc/new skyline hybrid...not that authentic really. shoot, evo viii has waaay more oomph' to its look. But nothing beats the originality of gen 5 & gen 7 celica design. Even during their time respectively, there was no other cars that look like 'em (and ever will be).
