Re: COMPLETED: Tamiya '71 Skyline GT-R

I really like the ignition wiring, what size/type of wiring did you use and what is your method?
My wiring jobs look relatively horrible and I always wonder if I should start wiring from the distributor to the head/valve cover, or from the head/valve cover back to the distributor.

The stacks do look great on there, and this is the first time I've seen the GT-R without a rear spolier...looks good!

Great question. I use actual "ignition wire" which can be bought from a variety of modelling suppliers. So far the only non-modelling source I've found for it is inside phone cords, so if you're real cheap, you can cut one up and use those--I'd just rather have em in a drawer ready to go. I ALWAYS wire the distributor first. If it's a really tiny, poorly detailed distributor, I'll twist all 8 wires together, solder them, and then drill a single hole in the middle of the distributor. I stick the soldered end in and then splay the wires out to look like they're 8 seperate terminals.

In the Skyline's case, I drilled 6 seperate holes with a pin vice, because the distributor was large enough to do that. 8 holes for a V8 on this distributor woulda been impossible though, I think.

Re: COMPLETED: Tamiya '71 Skyline GT-R

I found the supplied distributoron this kit was a bit too small to wire, so I made my own from Aluminium, which you can see above.
