Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"

as for the guy that said his domestic vehicles all died at under 75k miles, i dont know of anyone else with that problem. My dad sold his 90 silverado with a 350 and a 700r4 a few years ago and had done no work on it, just oil changes and stuff. he never flushed the rearend and had the tranny filter and fluid changed once or twice. It was still running strong at 180 thousand miles. granted it smoked a little at startups in the morning, but other than that, the only other problem was the radio that had to be smacked a few times to turn on lol

Dude, wtf is your problem? You're pissed off because you bought a dud (I read your posts in the sub/hoe forums), but guess what? ALL auto manufacturers make duds, and you would have been as likely to get one from them as you were from Chevy. So, pack it up and get the hell outta here, because you don't even have a truck.

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"

I looked this up and thought I would present just data. This data is a bit dated, but does give a picture of what has historically been the case with REPORTED problems. Now I'm sure most have seen this data, and will not sway anyone, but it is interesting to see. Now let's be civil.

Sporty car Toyota Celica

Who really cares about what Motor Trend says about ANYTHING? It is a boring magazine that selects car of the year in accordance to the amount of payola received IMO. How else could you explain the 1983(?) car of the year, the Renault Alliance? I had one of these for the winter one year, purchased for $100 and it came with parts cars to keep it on the road. It even had the Motor Trend sticker in the rear window. It was in excellent appearing condition, but I soon had to find more parts cars to finish out the winter. What were they thinking? The thing ate trannys, starters, alternators, etc almost daily. Not to mention I felt stupid being seen in it.

As for the foreign vs American made, I don't want to even get into that. I personally drive American, but won't argue the fact that the quality standards are not on par with the Japanese. If we'd ever figure that out, we may be able to keep some of our own plants open and keep ourselves employed...

Its Motor Trend - they are not a credible authority on trucks as "we" know and consider them. They are primarily concerned with things like gas milage and comfort, ride quality, and ergonomics. However, the ignorance in dismissing foreign car/truck quality and value and calling them weedeaters and such is exactly what GM, Ford, and Chrysler are counting on you to do...paying top dollar for an inferior product only adds profit to their bottom line. Look at the other forums here. The overall frequency and severity of problems with American made brands is far higher than the foreign vehicles....and many are manufactured right here in the USA.

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"

wow dug up a old thread. Anyways... My only complaint from my old truck was at 250K miles my 88' scottsdale tranny started slipping, and when I reinstalled a new one the speedo didnt work.

Re: Honda does not build a truck

Why do all of the Toyota trucks say TURD racing on the side? I didn't even know that was a race. I'm not going to see that.

Re: Truck Of The Year "Not"

You guys are funny!!!
I really like Chevy and not just there trucks. I do watch the competitors and they all have something to offer. However the Honda does not make a truck, the Ridgeline is like the El-camino or the Ford Rancho. it doesn't it pass as a 1/2ton. So what ever Motor Trend is smoking.. I want some!!!!

TURD - funny, but Toyota Racing Development - http://www.trdusa.com/racing.cfm I have not driven a Tundra or Tacoma but the V8 4runner RUNS STRONG. It would easily eat the chevy v8s of similar displacement.
